It is scary. Most people don't realize how bad it is for bees & still go out of their way to smack one if it gets too close or worse, destroy an entire hive. I got an email last week that showed a honey bee hive that was built under someones bbq. Instead of calling someone who could save the hive (which was huge by the way), they bombed it with some kind of wasp/bee killer.....& the bastard took pictures to boast about it too >:(
I have seen a show on tv like that too but I don't remember what it was called. A man called because they had bees coming in the house. It turns out, there was an enormous hive under the siding of the house. Again, instead of saving it, they doused it with chemicals, chopped it up & then burned it!
Doesn't using a steam/smoke mist calm the bees enough so that the hive can be relocated?

What a spooky coincidence - I picked up a book at the liberry yesterday about CCD. It's a well-written and fascinating book, but a very disturbing topic. :( 'Fruitless Fall' by Rowan Jacobsen.

Wild bees make honey bees better pollinators
