Chopped!

i love this show.  Sometimes though, the judges can be so snarky, I know, i know, that's part of the allure of the show - but goodness, these people are making like grandoise meals in a given time of 20 minutes.

When are we going to have the show where the "Chopped" judges have to be the ones to compete - that would be awesome!

This show rules.

Fun show. It is amazing what they cook in such a short time. Do you ever listion to spendid table on NPR. they play stump the chef.  Same concept of making things with odd things in your fridge. We call it that when we need to go shopping. lets see ...we have a lemon ... some celery and some rice....

Ive been watching top chef Masters. Iron chef on steroids. They are having fun because they don't have to worry about the money of building their business as the chopped folks do.

i can't say that i've caught "Splendid Table" - this is the first i've heard of it actually.  Would a cooking show have the same appeal if it's on radio though?

I"m not familiar with Top Chef Masters (ok, all of a sudden, i feel so.....i dunno, inadequate - *sighs* hahaha) but i do enjoy Iron Chef.  I'd like for them to use more creative ingredients however then" alacuisine - FISH" oooh, fish....oooh....

Splendid Table???  A cooking show on radio?? exactly what I thought. we like to listen to it when we cook. which on the weekend we could easily cook for 3 hour stretches making stock an such for the week. Its kind of entertainment for us. Spledid Table has a fun mood. Lynne is very sweet. she makes me smile. here a link. there are lots of archived shows. look for episodes with "stump the chef". Christipher Kimble editor of Cooks illustrated comes on and people call in to stump Lynne with things in their fridge.

CHOPPED is sort of a rehash of a great show that used to be on TV called "Ready, Set, Cook" that I LOVED.

Two celebrity chefs were paired with two members of the audience to become two teams. Each team was given a shopping bag with the same ingredients and they had less than a half an hour to make something of the ingredients. Then audience members were the taste judges. It was great.

It was actually where Paula Dean made  (I believe) her first national appearance.

Chopped is sooooo addicting, I love it!  I like Top Chef Masters a lot too.  I'm pretty much obsessed with all of the cooking competition-type shows  :)

I love Chopped, but I wish they'd do something less meaty. Why have two different meats in the basket, and then the chef adds bacon? Why? And why have meat for dessert? I know it's supposed to be a challenge, but that's just gross.

thank you for that link - i'll have to check it out, as long as yanno...there's not an episode of "Chopped" on tv at the same :P

what about when they have vegetarian chefs on the show? :)  It's rare, but i remember one vegetarian chef - and she was chopped in the first round - oops!  I have to wonder, why would a vegetarian chef compete on Chopped, just like i wonder why a vegetarian would go on Fear Factor (if anyone remembers that show) or Survivor....ya gotta know you're eating bug or roast of some poor recently killed land animal....

I think it would be hugely amusing to see an episode of Chopped with all these great chefs and everything is vegan.  No meat or dairy in the pantry or baskets.  They would cry! hahah

iron chef is always fish when i see it. shesh, you think they could try something more cool.

i saw chopped for the first time over the weekend with RC and she wants to do a competition like that. i'm pretty good at tossing stuff together but if i was on a show with meat, i would be like... uhhh.... no.

Yes but if WE were doing it with veg friends, then they wouldn't like, break out the pancetta or something!

I would so love to see an episode like that, I think that some of the judges would turn thier noses up at the foods presented to them tho (I think Alex espicially). I have wondered why they don't do something like that, acutally I think it would be entertaining to see chefs who aren't vegan prepare vegan meals, I think they would be a bit stumped (at first at least)!

I love this show, just started watching it a month or so ago, so I have seen a lot or reruns on it, but still really fun to watch
