Dark Angel (mostly IS Veg*n related)

I turned on the tv this morning and the channel was tuned to the Sci Fi channel.  Jessica Alba's character, Angel? (I never got into the show) was over at this cute guy's apartment and I just caught her saying something to the effect that because of the viruses *they* infected her with she can't eat the same food as normal people.  The cute guy said, there's bread and salad and I'm sure I can whip something else up real fast.  I changed the channel to the news and then it hit me, that's what happens to vegetarians when you visit someone and they try to serve you shell fish.  "It doesn't have a face, so you can eat it, can't you?  Oh, OK, there's still bread and salad."  Usually they don't offer to whip something else up.  I went back to it just as she had closed the door and was standing there looking at his hand on the frosted glass in the door's window and put her hand there on the other side.  I'm intrigued now.  Can someone tell me more about this Dark Angel show?  Was it any good?  Worth renting the DVDs through Netflix so I can follow the story from the beginning?  (If I ever get the Transitioning to Vegetarian newsgroup to a point where it doesn't take up almost all my free time recruiting for it!)

I don't know, T. I've seen all the Dark Angels...recently, actually...and, while I love me some Jessica Alba (and the show in general!), I wouldn't expect a lot of vegetarian cross-overs. Max doesn't really have a food ethic to speak of, but in the later part of the show she does get infected with a virus that is specifically coded to the DNA of Logan (the cute guy you speak of and co-star of the show). If they touch, swap saliva, or anything like it, he basically gets sick really fast and dies. In the clip you saw, she had momentarily forgotten the state of things and tasted the spaghetti sauce he had been laboring over, so it was contaminated and they couldn't eat it together.

I'm not sure if this really answers your question. Let me know, okay? It is a good show and has a couple really cool characters. There's an awesome lesbian character named Original Cindy who makes watching the show worth it just by herself! There are good plot twists and turns. Lots of sinister villains and moral ambiguity, if you like that sort of thing. The only bad thing is it was canceled after only two seasons, which totally totally sucks. The mythology was all ramped up and easily could have carried the story for a few more years. Ah well.

That does answer my question.  I love a good Sci Fi story.  My DH and I were Farscape fanatics!  We're counting down the days until Dr. Who's new season premiers!  Looking forward to Eureka too.  I was so p*ssed that they cancelled "Surface".

I hated that they canceled Surface too!  >:(  They should at least give you a website or something to go to to see what their scheme/plot/story was supposed to end up like- give you some answer as to what it was and closure!  Arghh.
