No, can't say I watch anime. A lot of it seems to be knock offs of cartoons I watched more than 20 years ago.

i get nostalgic. i've been watching Inuyasha for about a year and the same person who created Inuyasha also created Ranma 1/2... when i was like 10 or something, one of my friends used to have us stay up all night at sleepovers and watch Sailor Moon and Ranma 1/2 lol i'm not too into Sailor Moon though

I watch some anime, haven't in a while. I actually used to hate it with a passion; my friend owns a comic shop that is (or was, at least) the largest anime retailer in alabama. My friends all watched crap like sailor moon, ranma, dragonball, and el hazar constantly. Sorry, I know you said you like some of that, but I hate it so much; words can't describe my loathing for it. Anyway, at some point I saw Lodoss War, and it was awesome. Then I watched stuff like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Berserk and I really liked those. Haven't watched much anime since then. Except for Miyazaki films like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.
I think OVA or OAV means that it went straight to video or dvd without being on tv first. Yep. Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_Video_Animation edit: oops. i just noticed hiimkelsi answered that earlier. sorry for the repetition.

hahaha, yeah she does.
it's a comedy-of-errors of sorts. the bug-antennae-girl likes some weird guy in her class, while the "tough guy" in her class likes her... and antics ensue. it's full of randomness, some parody of other anime, and, er, some sexual suggestiveness (nothing too bad, and mainly aimed at boys. it's categorized as a 'shonen' anime).

Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Great Teacher Onizuka, anything by Hayao Miyazaki. :)>>>
I've tried reading Naruto a few times, but I can only take so much of it at one time before I start oozing brain fluids out my ears. :/

i think i've only seen Naruto once, and i was dozing off, so it doesnt really count lol
the only ones i've ever watched is, like i said, Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, and also Samurai Pizza Cats. don't know if anyone knows that one, i used to watch it like 17 years ago at my babysitters house
faunablues, i saw a clip of School Rumble about the "tough guy".. they were taking a test in class and he saw that the girl hadn't written her name on the top and he freaked thinking she was gonna fail because of it and tried getting her attention. that was pretty funny. is the anime generally funny or just sometimes?

Hooray for anime!
I used to not be much into it, but recently, my wife and I have been watching a bunch.
Watch/watched:
Death Note (I can't wait for the next disc to arrive via Netflix... Narcissus, have you seen the live action movie?) Utawarerumono (This alternates between great and annoying... haven't finished it yet) Ergo Proxy (Awesome!) Outlaw Star (cheesy, but fun) Paranoia Agent (Truly the Twin Peaks of Anime) Hellsing
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Saiyuki are on deck. Anybody have any thoughts on those?

there are very, very few serious moments in the first season. there are a few more in the second season. but for the most part, it's always funny/crazy. Haha... I remember that part... Harima (tough guy) eventually writes "you forgot to write your name on your paper!" at the bottom of his test and tries to show it to her, and she subsequently writes "you forgot to write your name on your paper" as the last answer (it's an English test). ;D

I used to big on anime and manga. Chobits was good.
My two favorite anime are so far The Vision of Escaflowne which is REALLY good. It is a series and then they made a movie based on the series.
I also really like Saiyuki so far. It's hilarious yet serious at the same time. I would definitely categorize it as a more teenage-adult series though, although its not more than pg-13.

is anyone familiar with what anime's they used to play on adult swim/cartoon network? one night a long time ago i saw part of this show where these people were on a bus in the desert, like stranded, and them some guy wearing eye goggles and a big coat came out of nowhere and i think a few of the people started fighting.
that's probably not enough information, it's just always bugged me that i didn't know what it was called lol
i want to check some of these that you guys are talking about but since i just spent like $180 on the ranma series, i'm afraid it might cost me money! hah

I love anime but don't get to watch it very often. Ranma 1/2 is such a great show! Katie has been asking me to get her the series for a long time, and I hope to soon.
I also really liked Hellsing. There are some others, but I can't remember the names of them at the moment.

Sounds like you might be talking about Trigun. Which is amazing. Or at least I thought so when I watched it some years ago. They aired it around 2003. He wears a big red trenchcoat and sunglasses that could look goggle-ish. But there are a few other shows it could be, you might've caught an episode of Cowboy Bebop or (maybe) FLCL. Sounds most like Trigun, though.

I heart anime and manga... Anything by Clamp is good and if you look closely at my pic you will notice that I'm wearing a Bleach shirt. Also the hat is from Tsubasa but thats impossible to tell. And I'm pretty sure the question about the bus in the desert anime is in fact Trigun but who knows that is kinda vague.
