My new hero
11 year old kid shoots a 1000+ lb pig 8 times and chases it down for 3 hours as it struggled to live and survive by running away from them. :'( He and his dad are my new heros! Hunting....some &*$^#&* sport!

Jamison, who killed his first deer at age 5, was hunting with father Mike Stone and two guides in east Alabama on May 3 when he bagged Hogzilla II. He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50-caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.
Through it all there was the fear that the animal would turn and charge them, as wild boars have a reputation of doing.
"I was a little bit scared, a little bit excited," said Jamison, who just finished the sixth grade on the honor roll at Christian Heritage Academy, a small, private school.
His father said that, just to be extra safe, he and the guides had high-powered rifles aimed and ready to fire in case the beast with 5-inch tusks decided to charge.
Oh no, I was hoping for a REAL hero, not some scum of the earth jerks that tortured a poor defenseless animals. Guess it makes them feel tough and strong. Poor pig :'(
They are going to portray Hogzilla as a mean "man eating" boar. I wish he was. >:(

that makes me start tearing up! :'(I hate that people teach their children hatred for animals. Who in the world wants their eleven year old exposed to that sort of thing. Not, wait...they had him shooting at things before he was five...before he was old enough to escort himself to the bathroom they gave him a GUN? ???
Oh gee, life make so much sense now. Obviously Omni's never do things to the detriment of their children. Any rational thinking person would give a lethal weapon to a preschooler and tell them to start killing things. Ive seen the Light! Yes, raising a child vegan must be very bad for the kid...Thats, it I'm going to go and procreate so that I can pass the wisdom on to another generation! Maybe if the child has good dexterity it can stock and kill its first creature in time for their first Christmas.... :-X

What the HELL is wrong with people. There probably isn't another animal out there like it. And did you read what they did with it? They cut off its head and mounted it and are making the rest of it into sausage! SAUSAGE!!!! that's what you make out of left overs! Why would it even cross someone's mind to kill something like that when they saw it? I can understand hunting a regular deer or hog (not that I think it's good or anything, but I sort of get it), but to see something that amazing, that extraordinary... it scares me that the first thing that would cross your mind would be a desire to annihilate it. They could have spent all that time taking pictures and alerting scientists to study how something this hog survived.... but no!
If someone one did something like that in an African wildlife preserve, the press would be going on about poachers and what a shame it is that this marvel of nature had disappeared... but of course it's Alabama so the kid gets to brag about torturing an animal for 3 hours. He'd have gone to jail if it was a dog or a cat or some farmer's cow.
"Teaching" kids to kill is not all that hard in current climate of the US. WAY too many things have influence over the violence that some children feel compelled to imitate. Parents encouraging this is child abuse in my opinion.
Now, if you want a real challenge, teach a kid to love. Teach him/her that he/she IS loved for a start. Then teach them to love the world and even the stupid, disgusting hunters who are part of it. Teach them to treasure the flora and fauna, to appreciate beauty in all of its forms. Teach the child to be gentle and kind, to think before they act, especially towards other living things. Teach them that some animals are domesticated for pets and others deserve to run wild, procreate and aid in the appropriate balance of nature. If you can do that, you have really accomplished something and in a way, tamed what can become a wild beast to be turned loose on society.
We have wild deer come up and graze in the driveway, though none in the yard as yet. We sneak out when the moon is full and watch for them. We never think of actually eating one, but rather we say a little prayer that their lives will be long and food plentiful. We have bluejays who have taken up residence because it seems our weed-ridden yard makes for "good eats" for wild birds even without the feeders I long to put up, but am short on money and supplies. When it is about to rain, the yard is full of our feathered friends.
Why can't others see wild things are glorious?
