NVR - Ugly Betty!

So I had a mini Ugly Betty marathon with my roommate this evening and decided to post a topic to see if any of my fellow veg-webbers adored this show as much as I do. I'm sad to say that I'm addicted to this show and almost developed a twitch after the season finale because I had to wait THREE AND A HALF MONTHS to find out what happened next. But, only one more month to go!

I admit I started watching late - ABC Family ran a marathon on New Year's Eve, which my mom was watching. I watched a couple episodes and was like, "Yeah, it's pretty good - funny dialogue." By the Christmas episode, I had changed to, "OMG HILDA IS THROWING AWAY HENRY'S NOTE OMG WTF???!!!!" And once I discovered online viewing via ABC.com, I never looked back.

I think this is one of the better shows to come on TV for awhile and it's nice to have a show that's not about death and murder and mysteries involving those two items. I prefer happy television and while this show has its fair share of drama, it always makes me feel good, even if I have an aneurism at the end of each episode because of all the cliffhangers. This is also one of the best casts ever. I am so glad that along with America Ferrera/Vanessa Williams (surefire noms), that Judith Light (Claire) was nominated for an Emmy. She steals all of her scenes and she had the best line of the whole season...

(Betty's ringtone of La Cucaracha goes off)
Claire: I didn't pass out in a Mexican whorehouse again, did I?

So, I'll shut up now. If you love this show like me, please share! We can all anticipate the season premiere together. ;D

Oh, and on a closing note, a pic of my new TV love:

I love nerds.

i watched a few beginning episodes and i have to say, i hate it. i think its so over the top. it would be better, imo, if the charachters were more believable...like it betty werent SO dorky, more realistic.
but thats just me.

but i still love nerds too.  ;)

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

What I love most is that Betty stays physically well, UGLY and what happens is that you start to see her sensitivity, her intelligence and her drive, her stickituitiveness.  It really is a show about not judging a book by its cover and is high time.  She is a roll model, Betty is.  Be yourself, don't sell out, work hard and your mind and heart are always your best features.

Yup, a hard core fan.

Yes, LadyDragonfly, and I like that she's a role model but they don't beat you over the head with how good of an example she is. They may have in the first couple episodes, but most shows have their characters start out kind of that way, rigid in roles, and then if the show's good, they develop further. But anyway, yeah, I wish teenage girls would watch shows with characters like her's as opposed to the skanks shown on programs like The OC or anything on MTV. ::)

Did anyone buy the first season? I can't afford it, even on sale. *sigh*

I started watching it - was able to see most of the episodes... but missed the last few! I don't kow what happened in them!

Laurabs, ABC's repeats are currently in the last few eps of the 1st season. Next week is the one where they celebrate Secretary's Day at a place called The Middle Ages. They are showing them in order, and you can also get them on ABC's website (just up until last night's repeat).

I'd like to point out that Betty is only "TV ugly" which is to say, a pretty woman wearing glasses and bad clothes (okay, the blue braces are a new one...).

Did anyone see the one where Betty sits down in the lunchroom with her fellow Mode misfits and offers them empanadas?  This very mousy girl blurts out "I'm a vegan!" and rather sullenly continues to eat her salad.

Anyway, in spite of that characterization, I love the show too.
