I'm reading 'Raising Vegan Children in a Non-vegan World' by Erin Pavlina.
I'm curious what everyone else has their nose in at the moment! :)
The Diary of Anne Frank, again. The uncensored full version. It always helps me keep my perspective. I can, after all, look out the window or go outside whenever I want to.
We got a copy of No Country for Old Men from my in-laws for Christmas, they found in a second hand book shop in Melbourne. Sweet!
I really enjoyed it but could well shock myself by saying for the first time ever that I think I enjoyed the film more! It could be that we are big fans of the Coen brothers, or that Javier Bardem is a genius, I don't know... Still, was a great read!
We also borrowed their copy of The Passage and my husband has read it already, I'm only a couple of hundred pages in so have a long way to go before I'll have a verdict on this one!

I LOVE David Sedaris!!! I listened to this on a book on CD from the library, and it was even funnier to hear his voice saying it.
I just read The White Queen, by Phillipa Gregory. I love her books, they are historical fiction and this one is based on a queen during the War of the Roses. It was a bit depressing, but I like her take on things, and when she explains the theroies she bases some of her writings off of. Its sad, but soley through her books is how I have learned anything about British history.
I also finished "Whale Wars", a gift from my good buddy Minke during the last gift exchange. I was previously a huge Sea Shepherd fan, but am now an even greater fan! It is packed with action, facts, and compassion, great read!!!
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. And in bed at night, At the Back of the North Wind. I love George MacDonald.

I love him too :) And you're right; hearing him read makes it all the better. I have seen him do readings twice and they were awesome, and I've listened to his Live at Carnegie Hall cd too. I actually just reread Naked and had even more appreciation for his stories about living in a foreign country and trying to learn the language. Ahhh good times.
Let's see, what else have I been reading? Well I got only 90 pages or so into Words and Rules by Steven Pinker. Oh well.
Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void, by Mary Roach- Amazing! I never knew how interesting space and astronauts could be. I can't wait to read more of her books.
A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian, by Marina Lewycka was a fun read about 2 sisters trying to get rid of their 86 year old father's new 36 year old wife, and revealing their family history in the process.
And now I'm reading Wild Minds: What Animals Really Think, by Marc Hauser. It's not the most vegan-friendly book but it is pretty interesting so far.
"Forgiving Hitler" by Kathy Diosy and Kel Richards. Ian lent me it after a discussion about Anne Frank. He also lent me "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" which I guess is the last in the trilogy. For some reason he doesn't have the other but he says it repeats all the important info.
"Food in History"--an interesting food timeline.
I'm not going to list all my textbooks/academic readings, except that there's a lot of them.

Oh I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! If you do you might try the Curdie books (The Princess and the Goblin followed by The Princess and Curdie) though they are different. Still fantasy though more of a quest-fairytale thing.
My favourite of Macdonald's work is The Day Boy and the Night Girl (aka Photogen and Nicteris). It's available on audiobook from Librivox if you can't find it in print. ETA: Librivox is free.
I just started reading The Help. Really like it so far.

Oh. My. Goodness. I had forgotten Gutenberg. My dear Wassernixe, you have just set a feast of fat things before me. And I know that these are the old, unbowdlerized, uncut full editions. Full of the old language that I love. I read a couple of modernizations that totally sucked. Ugh.
They have Thomas Wingfold. And Sir Gibbie. *swoon*
I had no idea they had done an animation of The Princess and the Goblin.
Do you print out or read on your computer? Printing out runs into bucks for paper and toner, and A4 is not my favourite book format....but I'll manage somehow.
