So, the new season of Lost starts this week!

Who else is peeing their pants?  I can't be the only one....

Haha, no your not the only one.  But I've missed the whole last season at least.  I stumbled apon it on tv this week and thought it was a new episode, but maby it wasent.  I just know I didnt understand what the hell was happening???  You cant miss a show or you cant keep up.  I think I'll have to go rent/buy the last season I missed so that I can watch this one.  It's a good show... too bad it's ending.  :'(

Oh, and Jack is so hot!  :)>>>

You'll end up watching all four seasons in three days like I did.  I love this show.  It's one of the few TV shows I really like.  Addicting!

A 3 day marathon sounds like a great idea, but did you sleep at all?  Ah, who needs sleep when you have Lost, lol.

Yeah,  I don't remember the details, but I definitely just rented two seasons and watched them all in a row over my winter break.  It's like, "Okay, one more....." and before you know it you've watched six.

Estefania, I can catch you up on the plot if you want.  I mean, if you're interested in just jumping right into the new season.

Thanks KissMeKate, I would love to if you could catch me up.  Watching one show a week when it's on tv is ok, but I could never do a marathon with my 2 toddlers, they would not allow that.

I watched the first season in one day (it was a long but exciting night). I tried to watch the second season, but I don't know why, I didn't caught into it, I was always distracted. I want to start to watch it again!

*tee hee hee* I totally did not get that this was going to be a thread about the show Lost--*lol* I thought it was for "lost" people--I was all set to post on being lost in my life--but since I am not actually a character on "Lost" I won't do that!

Please continue uninterupted and if anyone else thought the same you go on and message me so I don't feel so silly *lol*

Sawyer is heut! But I really enjoy looking at Sayid. I don't know that other guy yet, Desmond.

Ok, I will watch Lost.

(Sariea, btw, Big Love starts again tomorrow night. It was about time...it's been more than a year since last season...)

Yay!

********SPOILERS!********

OK.  So.  In Season 4, the island splits into two camps--one led by Locke, who wants to basically stay on the island forever (because of its healing powers--he used to be in a wheelchair and now he can walk, etc.) and the other camp led by Jack (wants to escape).  The basic overarching conflict is that Ben and Widmore are competing for possession of the island because it has all these special properties.

The basic conflict ON the island is that there is a freighter that is coming to the island in order to find and reclaim it.  It was dispatched by Charles Widmore.  The islanders don't really know this, though, or whether the freighter people are good or bad.  Jack's camp contacts the freighter in the hopes of being rescued.  Locke's camp attempts to hide instead.

Sayid and Desmond are flown to the freighter by this mercenary helicopter dude (I'll spare you his details) in hopes of securing the rescue (they are in Jack's camp).  They end up being taken hostage, basically, as they find out that the freighter is not really there to rescue them.  There is a bunch of bizarro time travel stuff involved as well when Desmond and Sayid leave the island.  Michael (one of the former survivors, Walt's dad) is also on the freighter undercover to make sure that none of the islanders are killed.

Cut to the chase--the freighter people eventually land on the island, and war breaks out with him and Locke's camp.  Their leader has a heart rate monitor connected to a bomb on the freighter, so that if he dies, the bomb will go off, and Desmond and Sayid and everyone else on the freighter will die.  Lots of fighting, blah blah blah.  Lots of people in Locke's camp are killed.

The rest of the islanders, being ignorant of the true intentions of the freighter people, ferry themselves to the freighter thinking they will be rescued.  Hell breaks out again--after all, there is a bomb on there!  Desmond and Michael attempt to disarm it, but do not succeed.  Just before the freighter explodes, the mercenary helicopter dude rescues Kate, Jack, Sawyer, Sun, baby Aaron (Claire, his mom, died earlier in the season), Hurley, Sayid, and Sun.  Jin is on the freighter when it explodes and is, we assume, dead.  The helicopter starts heading back to the island to rescue more people, but oh no, it's too heavy!  Sawyer takes one for the team (for Kate, really) and jumps out.  He lands in the water but survives.

The helicopter looks for the island, but it disappears!  Why?  Because Ben has turned this lever which made the island disappear into the ocean and, we guess, relocate elsewhere and to another time.  To protect the island.  They're all like, wtf, where is the island?  And having no place to land, they crash into the ocean.  They are rescued by Penny (Desmond's girlfriend).  So Kate, Jack, Hurley, Sun, Sayid, and Aaron are brought back home and become known as the "Oceanic 6" for their miraculous survival.  They keep everything a secret and pretend like, yes, they were the only survivors.  Meanwhile, the island and the rest of the survivors (Locke, Sawyer, etc) are on the island which is located god knows where/when.

Flash forward several years, in the real world: Kate is pretending to be the mother to Aaron.  Jack goes insane and becomes a druggie/alcoholic and is all "We need to go back!"  Hurley is in a mental institution because of the secret and the lying.  Sayid is an assassin for Ben, looking for Widmore.  Sun is out to avenge Jin's death and is in talks with Widmore (she blames Jack).  She also gives  birth to the daughter she and Jin miraculously conceived on the island.

Basically, everything is falling to pieces.  Ben has been banished from the island ever since he pushed the time/space travel lever.  Ben finds Jack and says, look, all of us have to go back to the island if we want to fix things.  Now, sometime during the three years since the 6 escaped, Locke also apparently escaped, and he died under the name of "Jeremy Bentham."   So, they also are going to have to bring Locke's dead body with them.  The trouble is going to be for Jack to convince the other 5 to come back to the island.  None of them think it is for any good.  Kate wants nothing to do with Jack.

So that's it.  Are they gonna go back?  How?  What happened to the people who were left on the island?  Where is it?  Is Ben good or evil?  Is that REALLY Locke's dead body or is Ben using it as a decoy to convince Jack to get all the rest of the six back on the island for the entirely selfish purpose of Ben being able to get back on it?  Because Ben can't get back to it without them.

Confusing?  Probably.  I recommend lostpedia.com.  Like I said, lots of time travel, so anything can happen.  This season was full of flash-forwards and was, in my opinion, absolutely brilliant.

If you all haven't watched before, you can still start!  I think that, contrary to popular opinion, it's pretty easy to pick up with.  You can always look up your questions online.  Or ask me.  There's enough action and enouh new plot twists so that you aren't overly invested in old info.

Thanks KMK.  I was expecting some info, but not a detailed chapter, this was awsome!   ;)b  I actually think I might have caught an episode or 2 of season 4 now that you described it.  Now I'm good to go for this 5th and final one!  Cant wait.  Oh and btw, I should name you the lost guru, lol.  Wow that was alot of information. Again, thanks so much!

But wait!  The fifth season will not be the final one!  We we still have season six!

I didn't mean for it to be so long, but there is no succinct way to summarize all that.  There are like 10 central characters!  Glad that made some sense.

yeah i heard that but i'm waiting to see if itunes will have it right away because i don't have hbo. it was sooo addicting to me because i'm fascinated with the whole polygamy/compound thing. different religious beliefs are interesting

anyway, back to lost, i don't really think many of the characters are hot, i think locke is interesting and ben really grew on me, even when he was a villain i thought he was awesome. (i saw him on the view once and they talked about how he has that "villain" stare, and he said something like "you mean how i can look at someone like i'm saying, i care so much about you and i don't know what i'll do when you're gone" it was great, the video is on youtube somewhere)

it's sad that it's been so long since the show's been on that i only really remember bits from the last episode and not much from the season. i should read that big post on this thread lol

Ben is the best.  Locke is veeeeery interesting.  I went from hating him with a fiery passion to loving him about five times this season.  I just wanted to shake the asshole!  What with all the "ohh, let's stay and be one with the island, blah blah blah...."  But sometimes he turned out to be right.  Ill be sad if he's dead, but I'm not convinced he is.

Now it's just Jack who pisses me off.  When he got all tubby and alcoholic and grew a beard.  But I've never been a Jack fan.  I don't think there was ever a point where I liked Jack.  And I HATE Juliet.

Ben is really the best character though.
