This quite amused me.
--> Simpson Dining serves extremist soup
A person can only put up with extremists for so long. In America, our society is nominally based upon acceptance and the belief that diversity makes us stronger. In order to protect our freedom, we extend it to those who don’t like freedom. We must tolerate the intolerant. But on a personal level, I’m just about at the breaking point.
If I see one more vegan soup in Simpson Dining hall, I don’t know what I’ll do...
Did you mean to put quotes around that? I was like..what is hh talking about?
As far as it all goes, I'm vegan, but I can't stand extremist soups..
;)
Fixed. Although it's still true. Extremist, extremist, extremist.
haha, nooooooooo
I meant the passage from the article...in your post.
OOhhhh. I meant to put it in italics. That's now fixed, too. You're keeping me honest.
Every time I read the title of this thread I think the Simpsons have opened a restaurant. "Extremist soup" sounds like something Bart would put on the menu...something you wouldn't want to know what was in it.
Wow. That article really made me angry.
It didn't make me angry so much as...I dunno, disgusted. That it ever got past the editorial staff. I mean, the person is obviously writing a piece on something they know nothing about. Food, for a start, in general...and then, veg*nism in particular.
It's like the guy on Yahoo! who blasted Springsteen's halftime show at the Superbowl. Sooo superior. Yeah, dude, well when you have as many records go platinum as the Boss, maybe I'll listen to your opinions.
Critics never "do." They just talk. Usually about their own ideas. The original work has nothing to do with their spewing.
If what this guy says is true, it just means that the pendulum has swung the other way for a change. I'd tell him to suck it up. ::)
The comments following it were the best part.
If vegans (whoops sorry, I'll use your line of thinking and go with terrorists) were to switch to your suggested lifestyle, they would have a choice between "gross brown stuff" and "gross green stuff" like everyone else. It doesn't make sense that eliminating the vegan option would increase the quality of non-vegan options.
Well, I'd just like to say I think I quite like extremist soup. It has a nice ring to it. Can we make that a recipe category?

I'm sure my latest recipe posted for Tomato, Veggie and Apple soup would be regarded as "extreme" by a lot of folks. It's extreme---ly good.
