What DVD are you watching lately?

I have BBC's Persuasion on, but I can't really get into. I've heard thought that BBC's Sense & Sensibility is good. Of course I"ve watched the Ang Lee Emma Thompson version which is superb... I may get it this week to see  :P

come on over and watch it with me!

I watched Rosemary's Baby last night, and it was stunning. I like old movies and I like to see how cinema has changed, and this did not disappoint. It had a magnetic storyline, too! Mia Farrow is great in the part. I can't believe I hadn't seen this before. Love it.

That movie is incredible.

I have been watching Paris, je t'aime, because I'm heading to France in May! That DVD has so many great stories!

Love that one too!!

Do I hear a road trip???
Casablanca is great, particularly when you know that they had about 3 screenwriters making it up as they went along. Nobody, but nobody of the actors etc. knew how it was going to end before they were handed the last few scenes just before shooting. It was just one step away from improv.
Casablanca is also the movie that made Bogey a sexsymbol for life. But as he said, if Ingrid Bergman looks at you like that, it changes everything.

My mother was a ringer for Ms Bergman when young. Her wedding picture was beautiful.

I've driven through Hendersonville. Do you ever go to the Family Video store in Lebanon? Because you've probably met him! That would be too funny.

I've never been there Veganrun, but that is funny that he is so close. Let me know if you ever visit him.

I watched Some like it hot last night.

I watched The Informant! last night, and Matt Damon is just one heck of an actor! It was funny when I didn't expect it to be. However, I didn't understand a lot of the business/economic mumbo-jumbo, but it was still enjoyable. I love Joel McHale, too!  :)>>>

It's so strange that I still haven't watched Casablanca. It feels as if I did, but when I think about it, I haven't. It's one of those movies that are so classic and that you've heard about so much, that you believe you actually saw it. Like Gone With the Wind (I already know the ending anyways... ;) ) I definitely need to get on that!

Like a lot of Bogey's movies, it grows on you if you see it more than once. Also if you know just how low the budget actually was. When you realise they had like 3 or 4 sets for the whole deal, you realise just how much was riding on the performances. Now that's a movie.

yeah, I do love Humprey Bogart, but I think his best movie was The Maltese Falcon.  There is no one like him today, IMO

Hear, hear! Have you seen The Big Sleep? If you can get the Director's Cut it makes a lot more sense because they cut the explanatory scene to put more of Bogart and Bacall in it, which didn't help much.  ???
The Big Sleep has some excellent oneliners in it that Bogey ad-libbed, like where the bad girl is on the floor trying to pick up a gun:

"Get up, angel--you look like a Pekinese."

Treasure of the Sierra Madre is my personal fav. Also love The Maltese Falcon and The African Queen :)
