Moms Ice Tea

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    10 tea bags
    1 cup sugar
    water
    ice

Directions:

Boil about 4-5 cups of the water.  Steep the tea bags for 2-5 min.

Remove the tea bags and dissolve the vegan sugar in the hot tea.

Transfer the sweetened tea to a gallon container and fill with cold water and/or ice.

Serve over more ice. Makes around one gallon

Notes: Yeah, its alot, but it goes fast.  You can also use fewer tea bags (around 4-5) and steep them longer (a half hour) for Aunt Nancys Ice Tea(tm) Smiley.  Sugar is to taste and can be freely adjusted.  I use decaffinated tea bags here at school and it tastes the same to me.  Never tried artifical sweeteners - but I don't see why they wouldn't work.  Just add them last, after the tea has cooled.

its even better if you add 1/2 a cup of lemon juice to the recipe.  if you mix the lemon juice, vegan sugar and some of the water together while the tea is steeping, you don't have to worry about getting the vegan sugar to dissolve into the tea.

I love sweet Ice Tea! Black tea bags are usually used but white and green work well too.
