Poutine

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

one portion of french fries (your own fat-free recipe or other)
1/2 cup of b.b.q. sauce (with no-meat product)
1/2 cup (or more) of grated vegan soy cheese

Directions:

Mix french fries and cheese (not too much to avoid the decomposition!!!), and put (a lot of) sauce on the top.  The recipe can be made with spagetthi sauce (also your own recipe).

Serves: 1

Preparation time: 15 min

It may sound weird, but here in Montreal Quebec Canada it is a real delight. You can put also on top (sauté) some onion, green pepper and mushroom. Another alternative use Yves Veggie pizza peperoni on top or sausage. Délicieux as we say... Bon appétit

I've never heard of bbq sauce being used on poutine.  In Ontario, Canada we use gravy.  Try a vegetable based gravy and use a malt vinegar!

Here in new brunswick we use gravy too, real poutine is little potato balls stuffed with meat and cheese and deep fried until it turns grey. barf. I make mine poutine with Mushroon gravy, this canned stuff that I'm sure will kill me much quicker than the greasy McCain superfries I dump it on. What can I say?  Its part of my culture, I was raised on the stuff...

I use mushroom gravy too.  My kids can never get enough but I am very carefull to buy low fat fries otherwise we would all be kinda plump. LOL

Try making your own french fries in the Microwave, its super easy with no oil.  Cut Potato in to Firies Size.  Place on a platic Microwve Bacon Tray so only a small portion of the potato touches the plastic.  Microwave on High for 5 Minutes or so.  Done!  Archived comment by: sharewareislandCOM
