1/4 cup
shoyu/
tamari 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
6 oz. your favorite beer
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder

dill chips, slaw, mustard or your choice of fixins
Directions:Slice the tofu into 1/4 slices. Arrange the slices on a towel lined plate. Cover with another towel, another plate, and a skillet filled with water (or other suitable weight). Allow to sit for 15 minutes and repeat with dry towels. Dice the tofu into 1/2 pieces and place into a pie pan. Combine
shoyu, Worcestershire, beer, and garlic powder. Pour mixture over tofu and allow to marinade 2-3 hours. Drain. Arrange tofu on a cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Place tofu under a broiler for 30-45 minutes, turning once. In a saucepan, combine tofu and BBQ sauce. Heat through. Serve on rolls with your favorite fixins. WARNING!! If you find the texture of meat to be repulsive, don't eat this! It was so real, my roomate thought it WAS meat, and my girlfriend almost couldnt eat it. Otherwise, enjoy!

If you place the tofu under a broiler for 30-45 MINUTES, won't it burn??? Is this supposed to be seconds OR Is it supposed to be baked??? thanks

I baked [not broiled] very small pieces of tofu at 325 for 35 minutes - it was almost too long. Some of the pieces were crunchy. 25-30 minutes would have been better. But overall the texture and taste were very good.

Why is it that everytime I bake or fry tofu- it tastes and feels like it hasn't been cooked at all? I didn't freeze the tofu, but drained it. Am I missing something here? Please help! ~ Jenn Minnesota

Foxyfavre, I have had that problem at times, and in my case, there was too much liquid in pan. It keeps the tofu too moist, and never seems like its done. Or it could be that you are using pieces that are too big, and it just takes forever. Try slicing or cubing smaller, making the pieces all same size if you can. Freezing it may help. But this makes it firmer, less apt to fall apart when cooking.
