This recipe is really good, we tried it with sauted mushrooms and honey teriyaki sauce. We also went the whole step and turned it into a stir fry dish with all the Chinese vegetables. Its a wonderful recipe, give it a try!

call me silly, but what is spike seasonong?

Spike is a salt substitute that you can get at most health food stores. It tastes better than salt and salt substitutes at supermarkets.

This recipe was great! I'm new at this way of eating, so it was easy, and very tasty. My 12 year old daughter, who normally snubs her nose at anything healthy had seconds.

I did this for my father and I last night...mmmmm! He loved it! I'm trying to prove to him that vegetarian stuff can taste good even though just the word tofu sound horrible! Thanks a lot...I added my super veg salad as a side and had it over brown rice (which he started cooking since I started buying it!) Thanks!

I'm a newbie at Vegetarianism and have only tried tofu once (didn't particularly care for it). I'm willing to give it another try ... but just what exactly is PRESSED tofu? Also, can anyone tell me what silkien (spelling?) is?

What is spike seasoning and where do you buy it? Recipe sounds good.

Norma, Pressed tofu is water packed tofu (the kind you get in little plastic tubs) that you let drain, then wrap it in a towel and put somthing heavy on top for about an hour to get more water out. Silken tofu is tofu that you can get in little 12 ounce blocks that doesn't need refrigeration until it is opened, because it is packaged speacilly.

this was really really yummy with one caveat: i found the combo of sauce and water to be all together too much liquid and had to drain some off after cooking, wasting probably about half a bottle of sauce. maybe i didn't press the tofu enough? otherwise it was great tho. i tried adding a few teaspoons of sugar and a teaspoon of
liquid smoke to good effect.

This was alright, but I just felt like it was lacking something. Decent though.

Me and my mother just downed a batch of this great BBQ Treat. Howe'ver, I didn't quite follow the rules. Didnt have any green pepper, so mushrooms would have to do. Didnt have any Spike!, so I used a vegan safe Cajun Fish and Poultry (yuck!) seasoning blend, with some garlic and ginger. I also cut the BBQ Sauce in half, using only about a 1/2 of a 12. oz jar. It was served with rice (as suggested) with peas and carrots, a big salad (also, i think was suggested.) At any rate, I commend your cooking skills, and am ready and willing to try this again the next time I get some green peppers! But even then I might throw in some mushrooms. Thanks

Why is it that everytime I bake or fry tofu- it tastes and feels like it hasn't been cooked at all? I didn't freeze the tofu, but drained it. Am I missing something here? Please help! ~ Jenn Minnesota

This is a good tangy dish. I swapped the 2 yellow onions for 1 large sweet onion. I also used a bit of Jam
acain Jerk spice which worked out quite yummily.

This was my first try at a tofu dish and it worked out great. I substituted 1/4 bottle of cajun style hot sauce for the BBQ sauce and man was this stuff ever spicy!!! I like it hot though

Yow!!!! Me and my doggie sure had fun with this recipe ...never thought I would have to wrestle a canine for tofu ...but man!!! had to chase him around the block a couple of times!!! Yummers!!!!

I made this yesterday and finishe'd it off today. It was great!! So easy to prepare. I made it with tofu that I had previously frozen so it was nice and chewy. I will definitely make this again!

I LOVED this! My tofu-hating boyfriend didn't love it, but he liked it, and that's all I can ask.

We added Tabasco, which was great.

This was wonderful! Even my non-vegetarian husband liked it. Like a lot of other people, I did add mushrooms - and made it with brown rice. It was wonderful!
