Awesome Black Bean Chili

What you need:

olive oil to coat the bottom of a medium sauce pan
1/2 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 bell pepper, finely chopped
red pepper flakes to desired spiciness
1 turnip finely chopped
1/2 pint of mushrooms, blended in food processor
1 can black beans (don't drain)
1 can petite diced tomatoes (don't drain)
1/4 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons vegan worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste

What you do:

Saute onion, garlic, bell pepper and red pepper flakes until soft. Add turnip and ground mushrooms, continue to cook until turnip is soft. Then add beans, tomatoes, ketchup, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Heat until thick and bubbly. Enjoy!
Source of recipe: I can't stand anything that takes forever to make. This is quick and easy and is great with a side of corn bread. My husband hates mushrooms but I love them. I wanted to figure out a way to trick him so I ground the mushrooms in my food processor before I sauteed them. It looks like ground turkey and he loves this chili. He still has no idea. Hee, hee, hee.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

Decent recipe but it's not vegetarian.  Worcestershire sauce has anchovies in it.  If you are vegetarian, be sure to use something in place of that.

or just use a vegan Worcestershire style sauce, such as Annie's organic Worcestershire sauce, which is fish-free, vegan, and delicious.
