Basic Pizza Sauce

What you need:

6 ounces tomato paste (I use garlic flavored)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 dried chilies, crushed
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons nondairy milk (I use soy)
1 pizza crust or bread, for serving
8 white mushrooms, diced, for serving

What you do:

1. Empty the tomato paste into a bowl. Mix in garlic powder, crushed dried chilies, and nutritional yeast.
2. Add soy sauce and milk. Mix until it's a smooth paste.
3. Spread the sauce on 1/2 baked pizza dough or bread, and place mushrooms on top.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I, too wasn't sure if to add the nutritional yeast because I hadn't really cared for the taste. But it went really well with tomato paste. As well did the soy sauce.  I'm super pleased with this recipe and don't plan on going back to store bought.  :)

I accidently added some red wine vinegar instead of red cooking wine, so I added a little bit of sugar. I also added some soy creamer instead of soy milk. Very delicious!

I didn't have any garlic powder, but otherwise followed the recipe. Really liked it. I liked that it's not a runny pizza sauce. Really good tasting, too!

This is an easy sauce and quite good.  I didn't put in the Soy Milk, and added a dash of red wine and some oregano.  The Nutritional Yeast use was questionable to me because I've been trying to use the stuff more lately and not been happy with the results often.  But in this recipe it went really well.  It helped give the sauce a depth and a more hearty flavor.

This is the easiest and tastiest pizza sauce recipe.  I added a little red cooking wine for some extra goodness.  Perfect with a whole grain crust with herbs.  :)>>>
