BBQ Beef and Bean Biscuit Bake

What you need:

1 lb burger-style crumbles (Gimmee Lean brand recommended)
1/2 cup diced onions
1 (21 oz) can vegetarian baked beans
1 cup catsup/ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoon vinegar (white)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups vegan biscuit mix
1 cup grated vegan cheddar cheese
2/3 cup water

What you do:

This was originally a microwave recipe but I don't like using the microwave to cook so I've adapted it.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In the meantime, fry the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned (you may have to add a little oil to prevent sticking). Lower heat, add onions and fry until soft but not brown.
In a 3 qt. casserole dish combine vegan ground beef, onions, baked beans, catsup, vegan brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well. Put mixture in oven.
While that's in the oven, combine biscuit mix, vegan cheese, and water in a bowl. Stir to combine.
When your beef and bean mixture gets hot and bubbly in the oven, take it out. Drop your biscuit batter (about 1/3 of a cup at a time) onto the beef and bean mix at random. Turn each biscuit over once before putting it back into the oven (I don't know what this does but trust me).
Cover with wax paper and continue to cook another 5-10 minutes. I just lift the wax paper once in awhile and eyeball it to make sure the biscuits are cooked (they don't take long to cook). You can't really screw this one up!
NOTE: Last time I made this I thought to myself, This probably doesn't need the vegan brown sugar, but I haven't made it yet without it so its up to your discretion. If you don't like things real sweet you may want to leave it out.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This was a very interesting recipe and nicely filling. I think I might leave out the Worchesire sauce next time but the overall experience was quite tasty!
