The Best Sloppy Joes You Remember from Childhood...mmmmmmm
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion, diced
1 large green pepper or frozen bell pepper mix, diced
2-1/2 cups tomato sauce
(or 2 cups tomato sauce & 1/2 cup ketchup)
1-1/2 cups water
1-1/2 cups textured vegetable protein
1 to 2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
pepper, to taste
1. Heat olive oil in a pan. Add and saute onion and peppers.
2. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer for 20 minutes, uncovered.
