Best Vegan Mac and Cheese in the entire world...seriously

What you need:

1 1/2 pounds pasta, preferably macaroni "Cheese" Sauce:
1 1/2 cups unsweetened nondairy milk
1 1/2 cups nutritional yeast
1 cup canola or vegetable oil
1 cup water
1/3 cup tamari or soy sauce
1/4 (12 ounce) block firm (not silken) tofu
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon vegesal or in lack of fancy product, just use salt
1 dollop mustard, optional

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Boil water in a big pot and cook pasta according to package directions.
2. Add all of the "cheese" sauce ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Once pasta is cooked, drain and put it in the baking pan (about the size of a brownie pan). Pour the "cheese" sauce over the pasta.
3. Bake until the top of the pasta looks slightly browned and crispy, about 15 minutes.
This is very simple and tastes amazing! If you are cooking for yourself, it will last about 5 days if you eat it for all three meals of the day.

Preparation Time:

Does anyone know if "Sheese" melts well for mac and cheese??? I just picked some up the other day and tried a little nibble...don't care for it too much on it's own but think it would taste okay with noodles...

Made this a few minutes ago to take to my inlaws for Easter.  So technically I haven't eaten it yet.  I added some dehydrated onions (rehydrated), a few dashes of chipotle Tabasco and about a teaspoon of sriracha hot sauce.  I also eliminated most of the water and all the salt, and next time I will cut back on the soy sauce, as it's a tad saltier than I would like.  First taste of the sauce in the bowl I was iffy about, second and third and beyond were just mmmmmmmmm.  I think if I wasn't going to bake it it would be the perfect consistency, but I'm thinking that because I am it will get a bit dryer, so I will add some water next time.  Doesn't taste like mac and cheese but I didn't expect it to.  All I know is it's GOOOOOD.  ;)b

I am sorry but this was by far THE WORST recipe I have ever made. It was absolutely disgusting...I was not expecting it to taste like Mac and Cheese, but I also was not expecting it to taste as horrible as it did.... This is the type of recipe that makes non vegans NEVER want to try another vegan dish in their life!!!

Nutritional yeast tastes nothing even remotely close to cheese....

NY is definitely an acquired taste. I did not like it at all at first. now I crave it all the time! Go easy on it!  ;)
Try the melty cheese recipe on here....its really good!

Yes, I agree. And nutritional yeast CAN taste very much like cheese in the right dish. I have even fooled my omni friends & family members certain NY queso sauces.

Really tasty!  I added brocollii to the mac and topped with bread crumbs mixed with NY and EB for some crunch.  Outside of that I made this pretty much too the letter.  I found I was out of garlic powder though so I used onion powder and some garlic salt....not as much as called for.  Next time I think I'll leave out the soy sauce and cut way back on the oil.  Even cutting the recipe in half it made a whole lot!
