Blender Waffles with Rolled Oats

What you need: 

2 cups rolled oats
2 cups water
1 banana, sliced
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt

What you do: 

1. Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions. Combine all ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth.
2. Pour batter into waffle iron.
3. Cook, according to directions.
Enjoy with your favorite syrup or fresh fruit. Enjoy! This recipe is super quick and turns out great. I make it for my family and they love it!

This recipe just didn't work for me.  The waffles turned out soggy no matter how long I cooked them and kind of reminded me of glue.  Was it because of the oats?  I like a crispy belgium waffle and wouldn't recommend this recipe for someone making belgium waffles.  I agree with a previous person--I think it needs some baking powder or baking soda.  On the positive side--it was a quick recipe. 


This has become a regular at our house.  Sometimes I add zucchini to the blender, as well.

May I suggest, for those that have had problems with the batter being too thin:  make the batter as noted, then plug in your waffle iron and allow to heat up, allowing the batter to sit for a bit before cooking.  The longer the batter sits and rests, the thicker it gets (It is quite thin when first run through the blender).

Especially good with pecans!


i used a frozen banana that i defrosted in the fridge the night before and vanilla rice milk instead of water. mine came out gross- they had a nasty taste....maybe its because of the substitutions i made


This is a really great recipe! ;D  But like you I didn't have a waffle maker!  They work great as pancakes and you dont even need to add baking powder, just leave them to sit for about ten minutes after blending them!!  They are really great with fresh strawberrys!!  :P mmmm  hope they turn out the same for you!!! ;)


This is a great recipe! My first waffle came out a little on the crispy side but the next 2 came out great after adjusting the time in my waffle maker. I did adjust the recipe a bit by using applesauce instead of banana (out of them) and I added cinnamon and I used 1 cup water and 1 cup vanilla soy milk. Even though they came slightly gooey in the middle they were still great. I will be making these again very soon.


I make these like every other weekend, They're my mom's favorite breakfast so I made them for mothers day!
They're so healthy I love it. :D

We usually top these with a pecan glaze from the Farm Cookbook, I'l probably post a vegan version of it on here sometime. it's sooo good (but sooo bad for you xD)


This was a great starter recipe.  I doubled the amount of oats & added a few other things.  I used 4 cups of oats, 2 cups water, 1 banana, 2 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp vanilla, 1 tsp salt, 2 Tbsp black strap molasses, 1/4 cup applesauce and 3 Tbsp flaxseed meal.  They came out really well.  My 5 year old & 2 year old loved them!  Thank you very much!


Eek! I must have done something wrong I guess because these waffles came out pretty badly actually. They were kinda bland.. well, VERY bland actually and extremely flat and squishy. It's a super easy recipe though! It's just not for me  :-\


Mmkay I remembered these the other day and decided i wanted them. Obviously since i don't HAVE a blender anymore I had to improvise slightly. I used instant oats instead seeing as theyre just oat flour anyway, mashed the banana and also added some cinnamon and allspice. Purty good! though the first one was a little gross and slimy on the inside, the second one turned out okay because I added some oatbran to the mix before it was cooked up. And that was good :) Hooray


OMG!! I used this recipe for pancakes this morning...they were sooooo good!! I used 1 1/4 cups rolled oats, 1/4 cup flour, only about a cup of water and a 1/4 cup of vanilla soy milk along with the rest of the ingredients...I also added a bit of baking powder...these pancakes rocked!! I didn't even need to add any oil to my pan...the fact that I used the oats and no oil had to make these the healthiest and tastiest pancakes ever!! I ate like 4 and freezed the rest for next week...can't wait to munch on these again...good lookin' out!!
