Chewy Gooey Brownies!

What you need:

1 cup unbleached, all-purpose flour
1 cup white granulated sugar
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a mixing bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt).
2. In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients (water, oil, and vanilla). Add the dry mixture into the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Stir in the nuts.
3. Spread batter into an 8" or 9" square baking pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, but keep checking for preferred doneness after 10 minutes - just eyeball it until it's as gooey or chewy as you like!
Source of recipe: These are seriously the most amazing brownies I've ever eaten!!! They're chewy but still gooey! Waaay better than regular brownies I used to make in my un-veggie days! Hope you love them!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

These brownies were pretty good... but, they tasted kinda too oily if you know what i mean. They definitely are "Chewy Gooey" in a good way but i feel kinda sick after eating one because so much oil and such. I think i'll try this version of the recipe next time http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=18512.0 :)

These were fabulous, so so yummy and perfect texture, exactly the same texture as a real brownie, but they just stuck to the pan and crumbled.  How did I fix this?  By eating the whole thing straight out of the pan.  I'm going to hit the gym for 3 hours now.  But it was worth every bite :)

About the crumbling...Try baking them less and let them cool before cutting them. :)  Sorry about the crumbling...to be honest I didn't time how long I baked them! lol :)

Very delicious! I give it four stars only because they did crumble a lot....I added two tablespoons of mashed up tofu and that did the trick. :) PERFECT brownie!

yum! i followed the recipe exactly & used walnuts. they fell apart when i tried to cut them, but maybe i just didn't let them cool enough... it's hard to wait when they're nice and warm out of the oven!

These were great!  I used 1/3 c agave nectar and 2/3 c sugar, as opposed to one whole cup sugar.  This made them much gooier and eliminated the whole issue of them crumbling.  I added vegan chocolate chips and the whole family LOVED them!  Thanks for the great recipe!

These were really good...the best vegan brownies I've tried. I do think they need something to bind them though....they were a bit crumbly even though I cooked them for about 20 minutes. I think I'll try to use some egg replacer next time. I'll let you know how those turn out, because these are close to perfect brownies! I got so excited with how chocolaty and gooey they were, not at all cake like! I love my brownies to be fudgy, and these definitely are!
