Chocolate Gravy

What you need:

1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 cup vanilla soy milk (or plain soymilk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)

What you do:

This is a recipe that my family would beg my grandmother to make on Sunday mornings to top our pancakes. It can also be used on frozen dessert like a hot fudge, or it can also be served cold as a thick chocolate pudding.
Combine dry ingredients in a small pot.
Add soymilk (and vanilla if separate) and stir.
Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly (or you'll get lumps).
Let it gently boil for about 5 minutes or until it's fairly thick. It will thicken upon cooling.
Spoon some on top of your pancakes for a special Sunday breakfast and maybe throw on some banana slices. I've used this as quick hot fudge on a banana split or in place of icing on a cake. You can also melt in some vegan chocolate chips for a more decadent version.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

this is so crazy!  chocolate gravy was one of our family secrets, my cousin JUST posted this on his blog thebittenword.com today, and now i find that other people have been doing it too?!

note to all:  it's delicious!  stir in some earth balance afterwards for extra creamyness.  this is just too weird, i can't handle it!
