Clash of Maple Flavor Popcorn

What you need:

1/3 cup popcorn kernels
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Sea salt, to taste
1/3 cup maple syrup

What you do:

1) Pour oil into a large pot that has a fitted lid. Shift the pan around to cover the bottom and add popcorn kernels. Place lid on pot.
2) Place pot on a stove burner on medium - high heat. When the popcorn starts popping keep shaking the pan so it doesn't burn. Once all the popcorn is popped place it into 2 large bowls.
3) Squeeze about 1/3 cup of maple syrup into a small bowl. Microwave the maple syrup for 13 seconds so it pours easier. Pour about half of the syrup in one bowl and the other half in the other. Use 2 spoons to toss the popcorn around so the syrup covers all of it. Sit down with a good movie :D
Source of recipe: I made this when i was little and the memory of how good it is stayed with me all these years so now as a vegan, it was a good time to start using it as my main popcorn recipe. I had made this during the super bowl one night and my mom and sister were eating buttered popcorn. once they tried mine they pushed there popcorn aside and literally stole it from me.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This had a nice flavor, but I didn't like that the maple syrup made my popcorn soggy. Next time, I will bake it for 10-15min., so it will stay crunchy.

All in all, a nice substitute for caramel corn. I added a little it of salt and it was kind of like a ghetto-kettle corn.

the trick is to use a thick maple syrup. i realize the brand really makes a difference. making the popcorn crunchier will probly help. a lot of syrups are very watery, but im glad you liked it:D
