Crunchy Kale Snack

What you need:

2 cups of kale (washed, dried and torn into bite sized pieces)
olive oil cooking spray
sea salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste

What you do:

I discovered this yumminess by accident one day when I ran out of room on the stove and tried to use the oven to saute my kale. I then forgot about it and this is the tweaked result.
Pre-heat oven to 350.
Lay kale in a single layer on a baking sheet (you may need to use 2 sheets).
Lightly spray both sides of the kale with the cooking spray.
Bake for 10-12 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
Enjoy the crunchy goodness!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

;)b DUDE!  This recipe is awesome!  I am always trying to find ways to get my 4 yr old and 18 month old to eat kale b/c it is so nutritious and this has been an awesome afternoon snack.  If you don't like kale to begin with, I can see how you wouldn't be into it, but if you are kale lovers like we are...DIS IS DA BIZZZZOMB!  I'm loving watching my girls noshin on the couch right now

This is somewhat interesting, but not something I would ever serve to anyone -- and not something I'd ever do again.  Just tasted like very thin dried up kale -- I'd rather chop the kale into a salad, a smoothie, or saute it or something.  I wouldn't waste any more kale with this recipe.  Some may like it as a snack -- I didn't think much of it.

i didn't enjoy these very much, but i'm having a hard time pinpointing what about them i'm not enamored with.  the kale leaves were almost too thin when dried.

I absolutely LOVE these and have experimented with different types of Kale- purple leaf, black leaf, etc..... My favourite seasoning combination is sea salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Even my cousin's 8 year old loved them- he asked for the recipe so his Mom could make them for him!

Thanks Uhblondie. I've never seen them before, but I'll keep looking. I just wanted to say that your recipe reviews are always honest and informative. I look for them when contemplating making a recipe.

Thanks! I always read reviews and rely on them a lot, so I figure I should return the favor to the rest of the VegWeb community. Glad to know it helps!!

I'm not sure what Kale is, and whether it goes by a different name in my neck of the woods. Could you possibly post a link to a picture of Kale? Apparently Silver Beet is also called Seakale. I'm wondering if that's what your using.

The picture above is pretty much what kale looks like, but here is a picture of it in a bunch (as you would buy it in a supermarket): http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.millsfamilyfarms.com/images/p-kale.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.millsfamilyfarms.com/products/p-kale.html&h=209&w=220&sz=25&hl=en&start=2&um=1&tbnid=svImNiBObgPZiM:&tbnh=102&tbnw=107&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dkale%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official. It also comes in red kale (which looks more like purple to me) and dinosaur kale (which had big, dark green leaves). According to Wikipedia, it can also be called borecole, but I have never heard this name used before.

This was great!! No salt was necessary, although on my second batch (yes, I made 2) I added chili flakes.
Now I am inspired to do this with other vegetables that might come out crunchy. Any suggestions?
