Dishouse Veggie Burgers

What you need:

1 medium onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped [optional]
1/2 cup mushrooms chopped [optional]
1/4 cup cashews, chopped [optional]
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup grated carrot [optional]
1/2 cup bread crumbs
3/4 to 1 cup wheat gluten
1 tablespoon sage, dried mushroom or veggie stock,
garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon pepper, basil and ground cumin
1/2 cup ketchup
1 cup textured soy protein
3/4 to 1 cup hot water
1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavor
1 to 2 tablespoon soy sauce

What you do:

I usually eye ball my recipes, so if it's too salty or needs something else, or if you find it too wet or dry, adjust to make it a good consistency.
First, mix the veggies, spices and the dry stuff really good.
Add the boiled water to the textured soy protein, just so it's all covered well. Mix in the rest of the liquids.
Once the textured soy protein is ready [like 2 minutes], add the wet stuff to the dry. Mix this well.
I usually form this mix into patties and let it marinate over night with BBQ sauce and steak spice.
Grill the burgers till they're well done.
