I've had trouble with this recipe being consistent all the way through, when the middle is done enough then the outside is over done.  Plus I've had to cook up to 35-45 minutes.  Even though the outside ends up getting overdone, the inside is amazingly delicious.  Think I'll doing some experimenting with this recipe to get it cooking more evenly.

Honestly, I didn't like these at all. They came out flat, flopped, and mighty disgusting. I will not be making these again any time soon...or ever.

I made these in a mini-muffin tin for a brownie-bite style treat to add to my holiday gift trays. I subbed applesauce for the oil and it worked like a charm.
I made a "cream cheese"-style frosting for some of them, and it was pretty intensely delicious.
The brownies keep well in the fridge when placed in a tupperware container.
Overall, a good recipe! : )

i tried making these brownies right now and was very unsuccessful. i left them in the oven for 50 minutes becuase each time i checked them they were still very much uncooked. I took them out to cook and it seems like they just never set. The mix was very gooey and not in a good way. Maybe i will try again....

:D  ;D :)

This is how I modified it, and my dairy loving southern mother could not tell the difference

2 cups white all purpose flour
    2 cups white granulated sugar
    1 cup cocoa
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 cup plain soy milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil (or SLIGHTLY less than half)
    1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 Fahrenheit.

Mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl.  Mix wet ingredients together in a medium sized bowl.

Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients.  Mix well.  Mixture will be thick.

Pour mixture into oiled/floured square tin pan. 9 X 13

Bake 25-35 minutes (depending on your oven - I bake for 35 minutes).  Just watch closely until gets the shiny look on top and edges are crunchy....this will give you that crunchy & chewy texture that is ideal

Mmmmm, yum yum yum. Very nice. I made a few changes: I only used 1/4 cup of cocoa because that's all I had and I substituted vanilla yogurt for half of the oil. They came out beautifully - much better than the most popular brownie recipe on the site.

This is okay. It doesn't really taste like chocolate. It might be better with more cocoa and perhaps some peanut butter. I added some mixed nuts to the batter and some extra flour. We had to bake it 35 minutes and the textures is wonderful.

These were easy to make using normal, everyday ingredients.  I added an overripe banana to the mix.  I didn't have the correct size pan, so I cooked the batter in mini muffin tins for 17 minutes.  That might have been too long of a time, because they weren't gooey.  I used a half cup of mini chocolate chips, but I didn't find the flavor to be very chocolaty.  The next time I'll use at least a cup.  The recipe makes three dozen mini muffin size brownies.

Tasted yummy and chocolatey, but didn't really work with the pan I used...8 X 8 inch.  It came out with the consistency of a moist but crumbly chocolate cake - not something you could slice and serve as brownies.  I"m definitely going to try these again BUT i'm going to follow the above reviewer's advice next time and try out my 9 X 13 inch pan.  Thanks for posting, such a nice and easy brownie recipe!!
