SO HOW'D IT GO?
This is my first baking a cake and I think it did fine.
However, when I took it out of the oven (at 30 mins of baking) the top was DARK brown, almost BLACK. I know I accidently put about 7-8 spoons of coco powder, but did any of you have that problem?
I didn't taste the cake yet, but I will in the morning.
Hope it tastes okay....
YUUUUUUUUUMMM!!! Obviously, it's still dessert, but I love that it only has a few ingredients in it as opposed to the tons of other unhealthy ingredients (preservatives, partially hydrogenated oils, artificial colors and flavors, etc.) that you find in boxed or pre-made cakes. This cake is so good and so easy to make! This is what I'll stick to for birthdays and parties :) Thanks so much for sharing!
Very good chocolate cake! I made cupcakes and the texture and flavor tastes just as good, if not better, than any chocolate non-vegan cake I've ever eaten prior to becoming a vegan. Very good recipe and very easy! I will be making this one over and over again.
Absolutely amazing... was so moist and didn't crack as bad as most of my cakes usually do! Will be using recipe over and over again :)
this was my first time baking a cake from scratch and It was completely successful. I halved the recipe and made 11 cupcakes out of it. They were done after 25 min of baking. So good, i ate cupcakes for dinner....I used a chocolate frosting recipe from this website but left out the cocoa so I actually made a vanilla frosting and it was very good but too sweet for me. what i mean to say is that the cake is good with or without the frosting. Very easy, and super tasty.
thank you
This is an exceptionally moist and rich chocolate cake. We were very pleased with the results!
so so so so so yummy. This is my go to recipe, in case any9one wonders it makes about 18 cup cakes. Rich moist and pretty puch fool proof
This recipe is great one. All of my family and friends love this chocolate cake. ;)b
After I got this excellent recipe, I already made cakes for so many times and still expect to taste it right away. :)>>>
Thank you very much for such wonderful recipe. Make chocolate cake the best in the world.
LOVE IT! This was my first christmas being vegan and I needed a good chocolate cake recipe to make our traditional Coconut Rum cake. You can imagine my surprise when this recipe came out better than my old recipe that had butter and eggs! The only substitutions I made was that I reduced the water by 1/2 a cup and added two of the individual serving cups of Hawaiian Punch flavored apple sauce to the mix, that and I used Sugar in the Raw rather than refined sugar. I also added 2 extra Tblspns of coccoa and sugar to the batter plus 1/2 C of coconut and a splash of Parrot Bay. The batter was enough for 3 bread pans but it took more like 45 minutes for them all to get done (I used the toothpick trick to tell.) Of course after they were done but before they had cooled completely I soak them in about 3 shot glasses of Cap'n each and let em sit in the fridge overnight.
After several unsuccessful vegan baked goods this past month, this was great! I'm not a huge chocolate cake person, but I really like this and used the Chocolate Frosting by Sarah and topped it with roasted sliced almonds (see picture). I brought it to a party and didn't tell people it was vegan at first. By the end of the night it was gone!!!
;D
I followed the recipe exactly. Only problem was getting it out of the round cake pans. I greased (with vegetable oil) and floured them, but they were stuck. I cooked the cake for 40 min, but it may not have been enough to firm it together. BUT, the cake was nice and moist. So maybe 45 minutes will still be good, because I don't want it to be dry, like I see happened to others.
Overall - 5 stars
Here's the link to the frosting for others, because I had trouble finding it
