Flax Seed Curling Cream
What you need:
2 tablespoons flax seeds
1 cup water

1. Bring water to a boil.
2. Reduce heat and add flax seeds. Simmer for 10 minutes.
3. Strain into a bottle and put it on your hair!!
Store in the fridge for up to a week.
I personally had a lot of trouble straining this, so I read suggestions of putting the seeds in some panty hose and boiling them in that. I just simmered them for 6 minutes, before it turned into a gel and strained them.

SO HOW'D IT GO?
I made this and just put the flax seeds in the pantyhose while cooking. It came out a little thin, but works great with no straining at all. I'm curious if the soaking worked for anyone without any boiling? Thanks for this recipe! I'm glad to save money on hair product ;D
you probably wont be able to tell, though it's never happened to me. try it!
Hey! Thanks for sharing this recipe I'm excited to try something natural like this! I just made it a few minutes ago though, and I put it in my strainer but I still see little grainy pieces in the mixture. Is that supposed to be expected? If so, can you ever notice it in your hair? I'm kinda nervouse to put it in my hair yet!
im not really sure, i just saw it online and so thats what i did. lol. im gonna try it with just soaking next time!
My aunt taught me this one, she's been doing it for years. It holds your hair without making your hair look hard and gross like gel does. It just makes it look soft and natural. We don't boil the water though, we just soak the flax seeds in room temperature water for 10-ish minutes and then strain it. We reuse the seeds about 5 times before eating them as a crunchy snack ;)
But I'm curios as to why you boil the water. Does that add something else I'm missing out on?
yup! and it should be a little slimy
I followed the directions and it just looks like discolored water is that supposed to be right?
aigroc- glad you liked it!
synny- i use whole. but try it with ground, maybe that'll work!
Ok silly question... do you use the ground or whole flax seed? I only keep ground on hand so just wondering
This is amazing! My hair is always so frizzy, but I just don't like hair products and the way they smell. This totally works on my curly/wavy hair. Next time I may put some essential oil in it just for fun. Awesome recipe THANK YOU! I'm sold for life :)
