Flax Seed Curling Cream

What you need:

2 tablespoons flax seeds
1 cup water

What you do:

1. Bring water to a boil.
2. Reduce heat and add flax seeds. Simmer for 10 minutes.
3. Strain into a bottle and put it on your hair!!
Store in the fridge for up to a week.
I personally had a lot of trouble straining this, so I read suggestions of putting the seeds in some panty hose and boiling them in that. I just simmered them for 6 minutes, before it turned into a gel and strained them.
Source of recipe: I found this on another forum and I love it!!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

veganhippie, you are a lifesaver for posting this recipe!  I have thick/wavy hair, and this gel is perfect for me.  If I ever get around to it, I'll post pictures..   :D

I followed the pantyhose straining suggestion-- I simmered the seeds directly in the water for about 10 minutes.  Then I poured everything into a little pantyhose-sack (once it cooled down) and *squeezed*.  That seemed to work the best for me.  It's still a bit of a pain to strain them, but well worth the results.

Thank you so much for posting this.  I LOVE it.  Keeps my curls held together without making my hair feel dry like gel does.  My hair is really curly and this works so much better than any other product from the hair salon! ;D

i wonder if you could simmer it in cheese cloth  or something like it.  that way you could compost the whole thing when finished.
