Garbanzo Tacos

What you need:

2 (15 ounce) cans garbanzo beans (1 can, drained)
1 (1 1/4 ounce) packet vegan taco seasoning
lettuce, shredded, to taste
6 large tortillas or 12 hard taco shells
tomatoes, chopped, to taste
onions, diced, to taste
salsa, to taste

What you do:

1. Dump both cans of beans into a skillet (but use the liquid from only one can). Dump in the taco seasoning.
2. Stir and let simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
3. Add beans and other ingredients to your tacos, burritos, and/or taco salads.
Especially good recipe for those who aren't crazy about the flavor of garbanzo beans. The seasoning takes over.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This was a really good taco recipe. I have only just recently come to love beans. YUM! I made my own taco seasoning mix using red chili flakes, salt and pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, and oregano. Use however much you can handle of all!  ;)
I also mushed up the beans and found that it was more like a ground beef texture.
With some caramelized onions, salsa, red peppers, and spinach, it was scrumptious! :)>>>

What a great idea. Made these the other day and we were so impressed with them. I did create my own taco seasoning (chilli, paprika, cayenne (which I accidentally rubbed in my eye... ouch!), oregano, cumin). They really tasted like tacos; when my boyfriend brought them to work, people asked if he had meat in there. He's a meat-eater, but loves to eat everything that I make and is always bragging about it to his coworkers. One day... maybe he'll convert as well, especially with recipes like this.  ;)b

This is a WONDERFUL recipe! I had gotten tired of buying the fake burger (gets expensive in no time flat!) but I really do like tacos. And we almost always have garbanzos in our freezer so this was ultra easy. For mine I added a can of diced tomatoes along with the seasoning and garbanzos, and topped it with lettuce, olives, and our multipurpose cheese sauce, Cheez Please Soup! Its from the Uncheese Cookbook (replacing the onion with 1 c. of cauliflower) but looks a bit lumpy in the photo because we were seeing how it froze, normally it is extremely smooth.

I definitely think that Garbanzo Tacos are BETTER by far than the soy burger ones, and MUCH more cost affective!  ;)b

This was so easy and good! I used a potato masher to squish the garbanzos a little and thicken the sauce, but it was still very chunky and had lots of whole beans. We served it on soft flour tortillas with refried beans, salsa, vegan sour cream, and hot sauce, and it was fantastic. I wish I'd had shredded lettuce, it would have made them perfect. Great recipe!

AHHHHHHH this is soooo good :D I only had flat bread so I used that instead of a taco. Also used avocado and cucumbers for my veggies on the side. Avocado went SO well with it. I ran out and felt sad! But then I kept eating and couldn't stop eating. This is so simple but yet SO good!!! Thank you thank you.

I made this Sunday for dinner and my college-boy finished off the leftovers last night. He said, "You made these from that website...their great will you make this again." What better praise could a recipe have! Delish.

so quick to put together & really tasty.  i used 1 can garbanzos and 1 can black beans, added some orange bell pepper & topped with salsa, diced tomatoes, & avocado.  i ate with tortilla chips, nacho-style.  also, i think itd be a very omni-friendly dish for those who are freaked out by tvp crumbles.

my meat eating hubby even thought that this seemed tasty and it smells good ( like tacos) I was skeptical about chick peas but I think I will use this from now on instead of "fake meat"

I can't believe how good this is!! I didn't miss the meat at all and even the kids and DH were fans. We used the seasoning recipe posted by KingVegas. With recipes like this I may trick everyone into being veg*n >:D!!!
