Garbanzo Tacos

What you need:

2 (15 ounce) cans garbanzo beans (1 can, drained)
1 (1 1/4 ounce) packet vegan taco seasoning
lettuce, shredded, to taste
6 large tortillas or 12 hard taco shells
tomatoes, chopped, to taste
onions, diced, to taste
salsa, to taste

What you do:

1. Dump both cans of beans into a skillet (but use the liquid from only one can). Dump in the taco seasoning.
2. Stir and let simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
3. Add beans and other ingredients to your tacos, burritos, and/or taco salads.
Especially good recipe for those who aren't crazy about the flavor of garbanzo beans. The seasoning takes over.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

hi all.
Whole Foods along with other health food stores carry natural taco seasoning packets that contain all natural ingredients. Bearitos is a good one. La Preferida is another natural brand found in conventional grocery stores. Keep it natural. Keep it real.

A quick, cheap, easy, and pretty damn tasty recipe. Next time, I'll make my own taco seasoning.

This was so great. I also added a little garlic salt to the beans and some pepper. All in all totally delicoius. Even my boyfriend who isn't a vegetarian loved this and asked for seconds!!!

great recipe!  i sauteed some finely chopped onion before adding the beans, seasoning and some tomato paste.  i only had one can of beans, so i stretched it out with corn and black olives.  (i know it sounds lazy, but to get another can of beans i'd have to go to the other side of town and pay ridiculous import store prices).  it was still great, and the corn was surprisingly good.  and i guess it counts as protein combining.

Yum, I liked it. I avoided added salt and made my own taco seasoning, and i also added a bit of morning star farms vegan veggie grounds, but I think next time i'll leave the grounds out. They were good, but took away from the garbanzos. Someone said something about avacado in an earlier comment, i think i'll do that next time!

Good, fast and delicious!  I was surprised how tasty this was.  I think next time I'll add some green peppers into the mixture.  Thanks for the recipe!

Delicious!! We fried up some cubes of potatoes with veg oil and salt and pepper & added it in with avocados and lots of hot sauce! Yummy  ;)

As college students, we're always looking for cheaper alternatives... this is cheaper to make than tacos with fake beef and just as yummy!

I wanted black beans, so I did all the same stuff and used black beans.  It was wonderful.  I had gotten a bag of angel hair lettuce shreds so it was definitely taco time.  These took all of 10 minutes and were just divine.  I added some chipotle salsa and black olives, tofu sour creme, tomatoes...oh my I think I need some NOW.
