Hamburger Gravy

What you need:

1 cube vegetable bullion
2 cups water, divided
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup onions, chopped
vegan butter or oil, as needed
2/3 (12 ounce) bag burger-style crumbles

What you do:

1. Boil 1 1/2 cups water with the bullion cube. While waiting for it to boil, put 1/2 cup water and the flour in a small sealable container.
2. Seal and shake vigorously (until it has a milky consistency.) When the stock comes to a boil, add the flour mixture (you may need to shake the container again) and whisk.
3. Remove from heat and begin frying the onions in another pan with the oil or vegan butter. After a few minutes, put the gravy in the frying pan, and add the meat substitute.
4. Cook until the gravy is thick and the meat substitute is cooked through. (about 5 minutes)
Serve over mashed potatoes with some (fresh) vegan bread on the side. Very thick and hardy. Even my meat and potatoes dad likes this one.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I really liked this. I made my own tvp crumbles with soy sauce, seasoning and a little syrup to stick them together. I added the almost finished gravy to my cooking crumbles and it turned out great. i will be making this again.

This sounds really good. My mom used to make hamburger gravy a lot when I was kid.
I can't wait to try this!
