Homemade Flour Tortillas

What you need:

2 1/2 cups flour (bread flour works best)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon garlic or onion salt
2/3 cup very warm water

What you do:

1. Using food processor, all all ingredients, and process until it gathers into a ball. Add more water or flour as needed.
2. Form into little balls (should be about 12). Using either a tortilla maker or the bottom of a glass, flatten out the dough into tortilla shape.
3. Cook over medium to medium high heat in stick free cookware, or use tortilla maker.
Delicious.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

These were fantastically simple! I don't have a food processor so I just kneaded the dough for a few minutes and then rolled it out with a rolling pin in between some cellophane. These were so fast to make yet I imagine that you can roll them out and refrigerate before hand and just pull them out when you want to fry them up (which I plan to do next time) I cant imagine spending money on tortillas with this super easy recipe! Love it!

These were very tasty! It did not however, makee 12 tortillas. It made 4 normal size for tacos, or fajitas.

Really good and really easy. I will never buy pre-made tortillas again.

I thought this was great.  I finally tried it last night.  I broke my tortilla press unfortunately, but that was my error, not the recipe's error!  Thank you! :)

I really like this recipe. At first was difficult getting them thin, by the third time they got better.

I made quesadillas using the same recipe by adding food leftovers and folding them in half.

I tried them with peanut butter and jelly and they were delicious too  :)

fufuberry, with whole wheat tortillas, you have to make them a little thicker and cook them very very quickly

I was a little skeptical about using this recipe- most tortilla recipes involve working and resting the dough for large amounts of time... I needn't have worried, though- these turned out to be super! The consistency of the dough made it hard to use a tortilla press for these, so I rolled them out with a rolling pin.  The texture was perfect. Kept well in the fridge, too. A+ !

Fantastic! I halved the recipe(I got 4 tortillas), added 1T each of parsley and chives. I added a1/4t kosher salt also. The only real change I made to the basic recipe  Is I used 1/2T each of sesame oil and olive oil. Pinch of sesame seeds for texture. I didn't have ground garlic so I only used onion.

They are soooooo Good.... did I mention they are tastey... yeah!  ;D :D

Posted a picture also  :)>>>

I just got done making these and they were delicious. Definitely better than any of the grocery store versions.

Okay... i must have done something wrong...... I used 1/2 white 1/2 wheat flour and halved the recipe.  I ended up with only 3 thin tortillas, and they got crispy when they cooked, they were not foldable at all.  What did I do??
