Lazy and Hungry Tofu plus Broccoli

What you need:

1 teaspoon veggie oil
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/3 of a 14 oz block extra-firm tofu
1 cup broccoli (approx; I just prepare what I think will feed me)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
sesame seeds (optional)

What you do:

Cut tofu and broccoli into bite-size pieces.
Heat both oils over medium heat in a large skillet. Place tofu pieces in skillet and let cook for 4-5 minutes, or until golden on bottom. Cover for faster cooking.
Flip tofu pieces so that the other side can cook. Add broccoli. Pour soy sauce over tofu and broccoli. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until broccoli is heated through and tofu is browned on the bottom.
Serve immediately over pasta, noodles, or grain of choice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This was sooooo good. I haven't cooked with tofu much and this turned out great. I forgot to put on sesame seeds but it was great without it. Next time I think I will cook it longer to make it crispy.

This was very tasty and I have made a variety of veggies with it. I have on problem. The tofu takes forever to cook...way longer than ten minutes. I do not mind it taking longet, but if anyone knows how I can cut down the cooking time please let me know.   ???

How thin are you cutting the tofu? I usually cook squares that are no more than 1/2-inch thick.

excellent recipe given the cooking time and number of ingredients involved.  i've always wanted to get more tofu in my diet (for protein), yet most recipes involving it seem way too complicated with way too many ingredients.  then i found this, and it was great!  very simple!  i added sliced mushrooms to mine, and served the whole thing over basmati rice.  it was pretty good, and i think i'll be making it a lot more.  thank you!

This sounded so easy and yummy, so I gave it a shot. It came out okay, but didn't look nearly as superyummy as everyone else's... I ended up using a lot more oil than the recipe called for, maybe because I didn't have a nonstick skillet, and my tofu went all crumbly on me anyway. :( And I waaaayyyy overdosed on the soy sauce. haha But it still tasted good and it filled me up, and I'll definitely be trying it again. It really was super easy, and what better way to use up the leftover tofu and broccoli in my fridge? Thanks for the recipe!  :)

So easy, yet so tasty!  I added french beans, mushrooms, a small sweet orange pepper along with chilli flakes and a splash of veggie worcestershire sauce.  Mmmm.

I wasn't so lazy with this one!  I sort of planned it and cut up my tofu and marinated it  in a homemade teriyaki sauce with fresh, crushed ginger and garlic while I was at work all day.  Then when I came home I cooked my tofu first then removed from pan, sauteed my veggies (broccoli, zucchini and mushrooms + a little orange juice) took me about 20 min total because my rice was done when my veggies were cooked!  Added my tofu to the mixture and served on rice.  I opted for the sesame seeds!  Thanks for the great recipe, lots of variations which I love!    ;)

I just wanted to say that I love all the photos you guys have posted! They look so fancy - much better than when I throw the tofu and broccoli on top of quinoa and start gobbling away. ;) Glad you guys are enjoying the meal.

This was really quick and easy! I froze my tofu beforehand, and added some mushrooms and hot chili flakes to the mix. Plus, I'm trying to watch my carb intake, so instead of pasta, I made some zucchini pasta with my slicer! I must say, it was very, very good!
