Lazy and Hungry Tofu plus Broccoli

What you need:

1 teaspoon veggie oil
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/3 of a 14 oz block extra-firm tofu
1 cup broccoli (approx; I just prepare what I think will feed me)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
sesame seeds (optional)

What you do:

Cut tofu and broccoli into bite-size pieces.
Heat both oils over medium heat in a large skillet. Place tofu pieces in skillet and let cook for 4-5 minutes, or until golden on bottom. Cover for faster cooking.
Flip tofu pieces so that the other side can cook. Add broccoli. Pour soy sauce over tofu and broccoli. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until broccoli is heated through and tofu is browned on the bottom.
Serve immediately over pasta, noodles, or grain of choice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

So good! Today was organic veg delivery day and I had some broccoli that needed to be used! I threw in some chopped cherry tomatoes and crushed red pepper....just amazing!

Sometimes simplicity shows beauty better!

THANK YOU! :)>>>

i just made this and i, like many of your respondents, got a bit crazy with it.  i added mushrooms, peppers and onions, steamed the broccoli slightly.  i stir fried the tofu and then drained it, added the vegetables to the pan and stir fried them.  i put all of it over some left over lentil rice pilaf and served them with a sesame dressing.  it was great!!!

I am surprised at how easy AND tasty this was.  My tofu stuck to my cast iron skillet, so I will use my non stick next time.  I had to cook the tofu at a really high temp to get it to brown (I will freeze it next time).  And I did use more oil than the recipe asked.  Threw in some basmati rice and VIOLA!!!....I will make this again.  Thanks feelinsoreal for a great go to meal.  ;)b

I make pretty much exactly this all the time. I freeze the tofu beforehand because it means I have to cook it for much less time to get a good texture. I use low sodium tamari soy sauce, frontier brand garlic powder(the extra fine stuff, seriously this makes ALL the difference..other garlic powders are gross), and a dash of red pepper. Cook the tofu on high heat and it really should not take more than ten minutes.

This was very quick, simple & tasty!  I added a bit of minced garlic & ginger as well as a hint of sweet & sour sauce to this recipe.  This turned out great!  :)

This was really good, but I changed it so much that it may not even be considered the same recipe, but this was the basic recipe I used.  I made of full fledged stir fry.  I cut up onion and celery and cooked them along with the tofu.  As the tofu/onion/celery mixture was cooking I cut up carrots, broccoli, and green pepper.  It was an excuse to eat up some of the produce in the fridge.  When the onions were cooked and the tofu had turned golden I added the rest of the veggies, along with soy sauce, minced garlic from a jar, and the last of a bottle of dry sherry that had been sitting up in the cabnit for forever.  I cooked it until the broccoli was tender but still crunchy, and then served over quinoa.  And for a toping I put cashew gravy.  The cashew gravy was a nice touch, but it may have been too heavy, the stir fry was good enough on its own.  However, reading posts I think I may add red pepper flakes to the leftovers when I eat them.  Very delicious, thank you!  And I used my special tofu, it is from an oriental supermarket where they make their own tofu fresh daily.  WOW, the best tofu ever, has a pleasent beany flavor that I LOVE, and it made this stir fry exceptional.

Its so simple! I love it!
However, i was too lazy to make rice/pasta. so ate it on its own and mmm. Very good. I added a tad bit of garlic powder, extra soy sauce, and sesame seeds.
