Lentil Burgers

What you need:

1 cup lentils
3 cup water
1 cup cooked grain or ww flour
2 teaspoon gr cumin
2 teaspoon gr coriander
1 teaspoon tamari soy sauce
1 small onion chopped (optional)
3 tablespoon butter or oil (Optional) (The recipe calls for this... but I don't use it, and don't miss it)

What you do:

Cook Lentils in water for 45 minutes, until soft. Add remaining ingred. (except butter) to the cooked lentils. The burger dough should be stiff. Add more ww flour or grain if it is too sticky to form into patties. Wet hands, and form into 1/4 thick patties. Fry patties on both sides in melted butter until crisp, or bake on a well-oiled cookie sheet @ 350 degrees for approx 30 min or until a crust forms.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I used brown rice with the lentils, and I did need to add quite a bit of flour to keep it together, and then I floured both sides and fried them and they were delicious!

These were really really good. I added extra soy sauce, A-1 sauce (which I'm pretty sure is vegan btw), cajun seasoning, lemon pepper, garlic salt, and when they were done, I drizzled mine with a lime, and my husband put barbecue sauce on his.  I used the WW flour.

I think that I am going to attempt this recipe but will probably mash the lentils a little and add cooked quinoa to keep the burger together.  We'll see how it works out!

Thanks for the recipe.

I haven't tried this recipe, but I want to. I have been craving a burger for weeks now, and processed Vegan burger patties just don't do it for me. I don't keep dried coriander on hand, but I almost always have fresh cilantro. Anyone know what the equiv. of coriander to fresh cilantro would be for this recipe?

Great recipe! I baked a big batch and stored them in the freezer individually in sandwich bags. After work, would just heat up the frying pan with some cooking spray, put the frozen lentil patty and frozen burger bun on the pan and put the cover on it to defrost. I'm trying it with grainburgers, too. Thank You!
