Lentil Patties

What you need:

2-1/2 cups water
1 cup uncooked Lentils
3/4 cup corn flakes, ground in blender
3/4 cup oatmeal, finely ground in blender
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup “parmesan cheese” (see recipe below)
2-1/2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce (I use Kikkoman) Parmesan Cheese:
1 part whole unsalted cashews
1 part nutritional yeast
garlic powder, to taste

What you do:

1. Parmesan Cheese: Grind together cashews, nutritional yeast, and garlic powder until well blended. Store in refrigerator and use on anything you would normally put parmesan cheese on!
1. Rinse and pick through lentils. Add water and lentils to saucepan. Bring to a boil. Let boil for 4 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer 30 minutes or until soft and done. Add more water if needed! Once done, remove from stove, and let cool 10 minutes.
2. In a large bowl, add cooked lentils, corn flakes, oatmeal, ketchup, "parmesan cheese", Old Bay seasoning, and soy sauce. Mix all together well. Once all well combined, form into “patties”. Fry in a small amount of oil 1 to 2 min each side, or bake at 200 degrees F for 15 minutes.
3. Enjoy on hamburger bun with all the fixings, or eat alone. It is super yummy either way!!
Note: I created this recipe for my blog, some measurments might need adjusting for you. Like add more water to get the lenils done if needed. If the mixture seems a little dry when mixing, add a little more ketchup. It is pretty forgiving. . . so Enjoy it and have fun with it.

is there something easier to get the old bay seasoning.. half of the spices i dont have...

I am not sure why they linked to that, but I buy old bay seasoning from the store. It is actually Called "old bay seasoning" - I have found it in EVERY store I have looked at. It is normally by the spices. You can see the can here -  http://www.oldbay.com/Products/Old-Bay-Seasoning.aspx

I tried to "fix" this posting above, I am not sure why they made the changes they did!!

These were so good!  I followed the recipe exactly but for using red lentils (my favorite!) and the "Parmesan Cheese" as I didn't have any cashews on hand, but I did substitute some Vegan Grated Topping.  After I added the lentils, I let it sit a little to cool because I thought it might be too hard to handle.  It was a little wetter than I expected and next time I will try using more dry ingredients to firm them up.  Regardless, these were so tasty!  We loved the flavor and they weren't bland at all.  I am definitely making them again.  I made the first batch regular size, but the second batch I made small for sliders.  If you are looking for a good "burger" recipe, these are it.  Thank you AMcPher for a great recipe!

For this recipe, I use Corn Flake Crumbs, you can buy them ready made in a box near the bread crumbs normally.  The oats I use are the old fashioned rolled oats, I am not sure what they will turn out like if you used "quick" oats and blended them.  So please use Old fashioned oats!! You can also buy "old bay seasoning" near the spices in your local store.
I had all this information in the recipe I submitted, but for some reason they changed things. So, I wanted to add this info so hopefully they will turn out for you!
