I agree it doesn't sound good, but I gave it a try and I actually like it.  i don't think its to die for but its good enough to take to work on days I don't get a lunch break, thank you.

Omygosh! I used to make these all the time when I was reading Sue Grafton's alphabet mysteries. Her main character's favorite snack was a PB and pickle sandwich. I used the sweet bread and butter pickles instead of dill. SO YUMMY! I think I'll make this tomorrow for lunch. :)

:D
After reading this recipe and about 4 comments, I immediately got up, went to  the kitchen and made one. I already had 2 sliced of whole grain bread today, so I made it open-faced on a rice cake. YUMMMMM!!! As I ate it, I read the rest of the comments. Now I am officially a PB and Pickle addict!

I LOVE VEGWEB!!!

WOW! I had no idea that anyone else ate these. My Mom would make them for me when I was a kid and I passed this on to my daughter. I always thought it was something she came up with when she was in college(1960-1964 if you get the implication).
Some other variations are with chips inside the sandwich or open on an english muffin or bagel
By the way, always make sure to toast your bread.

I thought my sister was crazy when she ate this throughout all three of her pregnancies, but since I see others like it I think I will have to try it and apologize to her for calling her crazy!

This has got to be one of my all time favorite sandwiches. I love crunchy pb with whatever kind of pickles we have, either dill or bread&butter are amazing. If no crunchy pb is available, then I just use creamy and toast the bread, for the crunch. I agree with Applecrusher, it is a beautiful thing to find a whole group of people that enjoy this! My brother and I stumbled upon this sometime when we were experimenting in the kitchen, and later discovered my grandma has been eating this for years! mm mmm mmm I think i'm going to have to go have one...
