SO HOW'D IT GO?

I love this sandwich. And my husband does to. Our two picky eaters will not eat this at all. We like it with pepper and salt.

I myself am a big sucker for peanut butter. So yeah, I eat everything with peanut butter, and peanut butter with everything. Literally.

Therefore, I find it unsurprising that I end up liking this combination of PB sandwich. Even before I tried it, I've obsessed over Peanut Butter and Italian Sauce, courtesy of my own trial-an-errors.

Maybe it's genetic. I mean, I'm an Indonesian, and Indonesian people like things spicy and peanut-y. Just take a look at our satay sauce. Or gado-gado. Or siomay. They all come with peanut sauce.

...And no, the real gado-gado doesn't include tomatoes. The Westernized version, yes, but not the real one, since tomatoes are considered 'Western' vegetable here. Don't go really well with the more 'Indonesian' veggies like 'pare', Indonesian cucumbers, and 'singkong' lettuce  8)

I have eaten this sandwich since I was a tiny child.  It was a favorite of my grandmothers.  We would pick fresh tomatoes from the garden and toast the bread first.  YUM!!!  At that time we used JIFF peanut butter which has LOTS of salt in it.  So, if I make them now (with natureal Peanut Butter) I add a dash of salt on top of the tomato.  This sandwich always reminds me of summers at grandma's farm.  :)>>>
