The Pigs are Safe in the Barn
What you need:
1/2 cup unbleached flour
1 tablespoon corn meal
1 tablespoon oil
1/2-1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 vegan hot dogs, halved (I use Smart Dogs)
What you do:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Mix together all ingredients (except vegan hot dogs).
2. Add water little by little until a dough ball is formed. Roll the dough out as thin as you would a tortilla.
3. Wrap the dough around each dog 1/2. Bake 12-15 minutes, until golden.
Serve with your favorite condiments. I’m attempting Thai peanut sauce.

SO HOW'D IT GO?
Delicious and sooo cute. I whipped these up for an afternoon snack in fewer than 5 minutes prep time and just 12 or so minutes to bake!
Next time I think I'll add some seasonings to the dough to liven it up a bit - perhaps thyme, rosemary, garlic powder or onion flakes.
Great snack for young ones and the young at heart.
I gave up Morningstar Corndogs a long time ago (not vegan, WAY too many ingredients) even though I loved them. These were even better! And much healthier! It made the perfect amount for 8 halves of veggie dog. We dipped them in mustard-delish! And the name is awesome too! I might try brushing them with a bit of oil or margarine next time so they will brown more.
