Teriyaki Tofu

What you need:

1 package (16 ounces) firm tofu, pressed and drained
3 tablespoons mirin
2-2 1/2 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated
2 teaspoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons scallion, finely minced

What you do:

1. Cut tofu into 6 equal slices. Combine mirin, tamari and ginger, then pour mixture over tofu slices. Coat tofu on all sides and let marinate for at least an 20 minutes. Turn slices once or twice while marinating.
2. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Remove tofu from marinade and set marinade aside. Fry tofu on one side until lightly browned. Carefully turn slices and cook 2-3 minutes more.
3. Add marinade and cook another 30 seconds. Place tofu slices on serving dishes. Top each slice with a little of the remaining liquid from the pan. Garnish with minced scallion and serve hot.
