"Tuna" Salad

What you need:

1 (14 ounce) can chickpeas, drained
2 tablespoons vegan mayonnaise (I use Nayonaise)
2 tablespoons sweet relish
dash garlic powder
dash onion powder
dash ground mustard
salt and pepper, to taste

What you do:

1. Mash the chickpeas with a fork.
2. Mix in the vegan mayonnaise, relish, and spices. Season, to taste.
3. Mix it up and enjoy!
It's really good with lettuce or kale in a wrap or on its own on crackers or whole wheat bread.
Source of recipe: Thanks to Peta's website, I learned early on in my vegetarian adventures that mashed chickpeas can be used instead of tuna in tuna salad, and I basically lived on the stuff. After going vegan and sadly walking away from Miracle Whip, I tried to continue the tradition using Nayonaise instead. The only thing I learned is that I really dislike the taste of nayonaise, so, after months of perfecting, I finally have a "tuna" salad recipe that masks the nayonaise (because I'm too cheap to just throw it away and buy Veganaise)!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

This was delicious! I will never miss tuna salad with this concept. I made mine the way I normally would have made a tuna salad, (vegetarian version:) with mayo, relish, chopped egg, seaoning salt, pepper, and chopped onion. I processed my chickpeas in my food processor until it got a "tuna-like" consistency. It was very yummy and was a cross between tuna salad and potato salad, two of my favorites!

This is really good! :D  I added a celery rib and cut up one green onion too.  This just came out great, and I will probably make it a lot now. :)

Very good! I made this a bit plainer than yours (no added seasonings) but it was still very good.

Very Tasty!  I used chickpea and lentil bean sprouts instead of cooked chickpeas (sprouted the raw beans for 3 days then mashed the raw sprouts and beans with a fork) and then added soy mayo, chopped sweet pickles, and spices  :)>>>
