Vegan Brownies

What you need:

1/4 cup canola oil
1/3 cup water
1 cup organic sugar
1 cup organic unbleached flour
1 tablespoon ground flax seed
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

What you do:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix wet ingredients in large bowl, then dump in all the dry. Don't over mix.
2. Bake for about 20-25 minutes.
They're supposed to look gooey! You can even add your favorite vegan chocolate chips, add coconut, or nuts!
These are so good and normal tasting my meat-eating family couldn’t tell the difference!!!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I made these using maple syrup instead of sugar and they came out really good.  I didn't need to add water ( because of the syrup), and I threw in a generous handful of chocolate chips.  I liked the resulting brownies, but they tasted way better after sitting overnight!

Mmm! These turned out great.  I used a non-stick pan that I also greased and I had no problem removing them from the pan. I used Ener-G egg replacer, added 1/4 cup of choc chips, and baked them for 20 minutes. I think they could have used another 3-5 minutes because they were very soft. I liked them that way but it made them a little difficult to serve.  I also drizzled some caramel on top (I melted equal parts margarine and brown sugar together), which added a nice touch.  My sister said the first one she ate didn't taste quite sweet enough but she changed her mind by her 5th one :)

This recipe rocks!!  I added coconut flakes , choc chipps and pb chips. TOO DIE FOR! I also added alittle splash more water. I read a question about sticking to the pan, I suggest always using parchment paper.  Thanks !!!

Oh, I forgot; I didn't have flax seed, so I replaced it with corn starch.

I made these tonight, and they were the best brownies that I have ever eaten!  :)>>> The only thing I did differently is when they were done, I put chocolate syrup on them when they were still hot and the brownies soaked them up a little, then I sprinkled powdered sugar on them. I shared them with people and they loved them. Even the nonvegans.  ;)

Thanks for the recipe! ;)b

These are REALLY good.  I just added 1/4 cup soymilk (because of dryness) and 1 cup chocolate chips.  Put in 8 X 8 glass dish for 30 minutes.

These are the first vegan brownies I ever made and they're really good! They taste just like normal brownies. My omni dad loves them.

I did 1/8 cup oil and 1/8 cup applesauce, and the only problem I had was that when I mixed the wet ingredients with the dry, it was too dry so I kept adding 1 TBS of water at a time until they got moist enough to bake. Then I put a piece of tinfoil over a glass pan, sprayed it and baked them. I saw other people said they were sticky and hard to get out of the pan, so if that's you're problem, then try putting tinfoil in the pan because mine weren't sticky at all! I would definitely make these again.

I finally tried these. They are the closest I have come to brownies that taste like brownies and NOT chocolate cake! They are so gooey, that is not a bad thing, but they are not pretty when cut. They definitely improve taste and texture wise when cool. They are yummy and easy, will make again. Thanks

Just made these tonight, and they aren't bad. I think they needed a bit more liquid. The only thing I changed was I only had vegetable oil on hand, so I used that instead of the canola oil, and I added in some mini m&ms. I find they have a bit of a powdery aftertaste, so I think next time I will definitely add a bit more water. Oh, and I had to double the recipe in order to fill a 9x9-inch pan. They still taste very good, and they are in fact gooey with a "crusty" top. Will probably make these again :)

I made these and added vegan chocolate chips. They were really good, but I almost went into a diabetic coma afterwards. For some reason every time I make something Chocolaty it turns out too sweet . Guess Ill have to stick to cookies and stuff.
