Vegan Pigs in a Blanket
2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
3 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1/3 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup water
1/2 tablespoon of apple sauce
1/2 package of vegan hot dogs (or so.)
Pour flour and baking powder into a medium bowl. Add shortening, mix well. Make a well in the center and pour the water and applesauce in, stir until thoroughly incorporated. If it seems dry, add more water.
Knead dough on a lightly floured surface. Flatten it out a bit.
Take your vegan hot dogs and cut or tear them into threes. Each one should make three equal pieces. Tear off a small ball of dough, flatten it out, then wrap a vegan hot dog piece up in it. You can either have it sticking out each end or cover it completely.
Place the dough wrapped vegan dogs onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 450 for 12-15 minutes, depending on your oven.
