SO HOW'D IT GO?
these were AWESOME!!! they just came out of the oven and are beautiful!! and i just tried one and they are really tasty!!! wow i am happy that i made these. it was for a last minuet potluck dish!
alright well to all of you the cookies were easy and good and i love them!!!! thank you for this recipe! :)
i made these for world vegetarian day and they were the biggest hit of all of the dishes!! they were gone within 3 hours. people are still talking about them today "i just couldnt believe it, they tasted like REAL chocolate chip cookies." "but what did they taste like?" "chocolate chip cookies!" haha. people who missed out on it didnt believe it, and the people who did try them didnt believe it. these were so good. i am definitely gonna be making them again for me. and one of my friends who missed them yesterday, requested them for her birthday.
I'm think I've tried every chocolate chip cookie recipie on vegweb and this one is by far the best!
These were great I cut the recipe in half (but not the vanilla) and used apple sauce in place of the butter, (i couldn't stomach the fact that all that butter was going to be put in my body) they turned out really fat and puffy and sort of cake like, but they were soooo good. It has just the right amount of vanilla and sugar, I loved it & I think this will be the recipe that I use all the time for Choc Chip cookies, Thanx.
I followed the directions. I used applesauce as my egg replacer. These were really greasy and flat. Next time I'm going to sub applesauce for at least half the margarine. And cut the wet ingredients back. Applesauce should stop the greasyness, and more dry ingredients should make it fluffier. They are too sweet for me though, so I'll cut down on the sugar too. Will let you know how they turn out.
I thought these were much much better than both the 'happy vegan chocolate chip cookies' and the 'chocolate chip cookies like they should be,' both which are highly rated here on vegweb. I've made both of those a couple times and really wasn't happy with either and never understood all the rave reviews. But anyway, these are really good. If I'm correct, the recipe is almost identical to the original toll house recipe, just veganized. They only took about 9 minutes to bake (the first time I tried these I checked after 15 minutes and they were completely burnt and hard as rocks... I used my toaster oven both times, but usually the toaster oven works just like my regular oven so I don't think I can blame the appliance). They were also pretty flat, so next time maybe I'll add some baking powder or something, in addition to the baking soda. Despite the flatness, the texture and taste were still much better than the other recipes I've tried.
What yummy cookies! I followed the directions more or less (except substituting 2 tsp baking powder for the soda because we had no soda in the house), and the cookies came out great! :)
Also, I didn't need to add any more time to the baking -- after 15 minutes the edges were a nice golden brown.
