Almost too good to be true. You can do this in one saucepan though. Just add the rice, lentils and 4 cups of water, or broth, to the caramelized onion.
DO NOT leave your microwave unattended for this. Five minutes is waaaayyyy too long. It does taste good, but I bet it's better on toast than my microwave door.
This is too easy not to try. So I did. The verdict: The amount of colored sugar crystals you'd have to use in order to appreciate the idea would surely put you in sugar coma.
