Homemade vegan whipped topping/marshmallow creme/meringue recipe on the horizon

Julie Hasson's blog has pictures of her latest awesome creation - vegan whipped cream that you can make at home without tofu! She says you should also be able to whip it into marshmallow cream and use it in place of meringue! It evens browns upon baking. It's pretty exciting! She's going to post the recipe and details next time. I can't wait. :)>>>

Awesome, KMK! (when I was typing, KMK...my fingers slipped to the wrong keys and I typed KINK on accident....what's wrong with me!)
Anyway, this is great news. I was just rambling about making vegan whipped cream yesterday. :)>>>

Coincidently, I was just commenting to someone yesterday that whipped cream is the only thing that I can't make an awesome vegan substitution for.
oooh, can't wait to see the recipe! I'm so curious as to what the ingredients are... It always intrigues me when someone makes a big step in "food technology" like this!
This is potentially life-altering. Will lemon meringue and I be reunited?
eta: I wonder if it could sub for egg whites in angel food cake...
...snip...

I am right there with you both! I miss my Nana's Lemon Meringue Pie. :)>>> :-* :)>>> :-*
A vegan angelfood cake would change vegan cuisine forever. I'm excited, but trying not to get my hopes up.

This is the last frontier, indeed. But if we can do whipped cream, who says angel food isn't around the corner!
*closes eyes and whispers" please, please, please, please
Julie Hasson's such a tease! Give it up, Jules! Recipe!
haha, I went there...and there are at least 2 posts about how it's not ready yet? Right? Did I miss something?

Yeah, that's what I figured...you were talking about. Keep us updated!
JH posted an update on her site today. Apparently the product she and BCG are experimenting with is called Versawhip 600K. A quick google showed that it might be pretty versatile. Can't wait until they get a recipe worked out, but it doesn't look like it is going to be easy to find.
Good investigating, gumshoe krs! Hmmmmm....well Versawhip should get excited because there will be a heck of a lot of vegans looking for their product soon!
Here is a recipe for vegan meringue cookies using Versawhip.

OK, so who is going to shell out the bucks and start experimenting with this stuff?

Please post yummy results here. K, thanks! :-*
i just hope that stuff doesn't turn out to be eggs or whatever - i remember the whole "kosher jel" disaster that claimed it was vegan but wasn't!
if the recipes only call for a couple teaspoons... why do they sell it by the pound!?
eta: amazon does the pound. the maker sells smaller:

I think this company markets to chefs/bakers, so that is the reason for the bulk packages.
Thanks for the link. Much more reasonable price! I would like to try to make a yellow cake with it. I don't have an oven right now, so I can't play. :(
I know this thread is old but has anyone tried Mimic Creme Healthy Top yet?? IT IS AMAZING!!
