Welcome to VegWeb!
VegWeb originally launched in the mid-90's, the personal project of a dedicated woman who wanted a welcoming hub to share and discuss delicious vegetarian food. Fast forward to 2012, when the site is so much more than she could've ever imagined: Over 15,000 recipes, 150,000 members, and a dynamic community of VegWebbers who populate our active forums. The site's content and members have always been our biggest asset , but we quickly realized the look from 1996 had to go.
Today we welcome you to the new and improved VegWeb! We're so thrilled to share what we've been steadily working on trying to perfect for a long time. You'll notice the nuts and bolts of the site are the same—we still have the most amazing user generated content on the web, thanks to you—but we've revamped the design and functionality to fully showcase your work. We hope you'll dive in and explore the new VegWeb with us! We want you to add new recipes, forum posts and to fully fill out your profile. Play around, get used to the new site and most importantly, have fun. Since this is our soft launch, there are still adjustments to be made, and we welcome any and all feedback. If you have any opinions or thoughts on the new site, please reach out to me at laura@vegweb.com.

p.s. We know that there are site functionality missing from this soft launch, but we want you to know they're coming. Here's the current list:
1) An Advanced Search mechanism so that members can search by both recipes and forums (currently all search capability is just for recipe search), as well as by meta data fields like: Raw, Gluten Free, Sugar Free, Low Fat, Fat Free, Kid Friendly, Quick and Easy, Soy Free, Nut Free, Wheat Free
2) A "report abuse" button to flag abusive content in forums.
3) Post Count - members to see their post counts in the forums to know how many posts they have written on VegWeb!
4) Member Photos - a gallery will be created to house member photos and we'll import current member photos into it. Some of you may have member photos already imported and you'll all be able to upload one new photo, we're just not sure what will happen with those when we push all the photos onto the new site. Stay tuned!

Okay, recipe box recipes should all be there in their entirety for everyone! Please let me know, if not. To find them, just look under your Recipes tab at "Recipes I Like." The ability to organize them will come soon, hopefully within the next week, so please stay tuned for that. Yay!!
Hi All!
We completed a round of updates to the site late last night/early this morning. Yay!
They are:
1. The star ratings on recipes are back!
2. The forums are more functional with many new features added, including new comment boxes and reporting spam features!
Please let us know what you think of the updates. Hopefully you find the forums much more usable and the star ratings functional.
We are working very hard to update recipe boxes in just a little bit (sometime today!) and so please check those out soon. There won't be categories to put your recipes into, but we will work on that next. If you were a big user of the Recipe Boxes on the old site, can you please let us know what you liked about them/their organization, so we can try to implement as many positive changes as possible.
Thank you so much for sticking with us during our soft launch, and we really appreciate all the feedback (good and bad) that's coming our way. We're listening!

Just out of curiosity, about how long does it take a recipe to get approved? I added one 6 days ago and it's still pending. No rush! Just so I know for the future!

Hey Laura, it's great to have a face to put to the site! Well done on an amazing site and what has become an indispensible resource for me that I have been using for a few years now! I would like to personally thank you for making my journey into veganism SO much easier than it might otherwise have been! Like some of the other members I have been offline for a while and came back to find the site revamped! I logged on looking for some of my favourite recipes as I have some people (omnivores) coming over for dinner this weekend, this site has been helping me to blow non vegans away for years with what can be accomplished on a vegan diet, and like some of the other members I nearly had heart failure to discover my recipe box was missing! I did notice you had already answered a post about this and said that the recipe box function will be back soon, I'm just wondering if it will still contain the recipes I've added or if I'll have to start again? I'm hoping they'll still be there but if not I'll live! I'll still have an amazing and FREE resource that has dramatically improved my quality of life thanks to all your selfless hard work so I'm not really in a position to complain now am I?? ;)
I haven't been on for a while and came on to find a recipe that I wanted for tonight and oops! it's gone! Do like the new look but do want my recipe box back!
Hi Laura! I two have been offline for two months and just came on the new site. I like it but can't find how to save recipes or my recipe box. Hopefully I will be able to find it when the final one is up!

Just logged in after a couple months of being offline and found you had changed! Looks great, it's a lot of hard work changing over a website and making things work! That being said, like everyone else, I loved the star system of rating, hope that comes back if possible. Also, my entire recipe box has been deleted as well as my user picture. Just sayin', hope things are back up to snuff soon!
