Meet Booyah!!

Here is our newest family member, Booyah! He is an absolute love! He's a catahoula mix & his right eye is half blue & half brown. He is 6 1/2 years old, about 55 pounds & a sweet boy! He's been in various shelters since mid-November & we are, at the least, his third home.  I can't imagine why anyone would give up this wonderful dog! One of the cats adores him already; the other is more cautious, but she sniffs him when he is sleeping. I am just so thrilled to have him with us!

It's been 2 years since we lost Zak-dog. By then Bad Charlie was so old we didn't think it was fair to him to bring a new dog or puppy into the mix. Now that BC is gone, I realize how much I miss dog presence. Jeff really wanted to get a puppy, but I wanted to help an older dog. So we checked the adoption page at the local humane society & I just fell in love with this guy. The next day I went to meet him & called Jeff & said, "I'm leaving work early to get you & you're gonna meet this guy!" Well, Jeff liked him to & we took him home that night.

He is well behaved & has already adjusted to his new home. He loves his walks & playing ball in the yard. He is such a sweetheart & absolutely adorable!

Holy crap!!!! I have been off the board for months so what a wonderful day to return.  Congrats Lezly.  What a beauty!!!!  I am so glad you rescued an older dog.  Too many reasons to explain why I have been off the board but one of the reasons was major computer problems Viruses, emails I should have got I didn't but got plenty of garbage ones).  Lezly I am so sorry about Bad Charlie.  I had no idea.  He lived such a long wonderful life. I truly am sad though.  I know how much you loved him.
What a wonderful name Booyah is.
I am still having major computer issues and hope to get a new computer this summer so will not be on the board much.  I see Tweety is back.  Great!!!! Where is Strange One?
Well gotta run!!!! Congrats once again.
Di

P.S.  I hope Zak Dog, Bad Charlie, Teddy, Willie, Boobie and Pie have hooked up and are all playing together at the Rainbow Bridge.

Worried that Harold will be joining them soon.  She will be 18 in March but looking very old.

Lezly, I lost all email addresses when the computer problems started.  Email if you want.

Love this new format.  When did that start?

Hey Di, nice to see you back. And Tweety too! The new board is only about a week old.

It was rough losing Bad Charlie. He slept by my feet every night for 22 years. I'm sorry to hear about Harold. It is heartbreaking to lose a friend, but I cannot imagine how empty my life would be without these wonderful friends.

Hope to see you around more!

My computer is still a hit and miss.  As is my email.  I hope I will have Harold around a little longer as she has been a trooper over the years.  She justs looks older than old.

Worked Saturday so had today off.  Am on my way downtown for dinner and then to see the four gorgeous hunks, Il Divo.  The opera/classical singers that Simon Cowell put together.  Gotta run...my friend is here to pick me up!

Your dog is adorable!! Great for you for adopting an older animal. I have adopted two guinea pigs and a rabbit last year who are all three years old. (Which is considered adult for these types of animals). I work at a guinea pig shelter and I see the babies go all of the time but the same adults have been there since I started volunteering there and it is very sad. If I wasn't renting an apartment I would adopt all of the adults. I can't believe that your dog is on his third home. Thankfully he has found the final and greatest home with you :D

Kelticrose26, thank you for adopting those wonderful little animals. We had 2 bunnies for many years before we lost them to old age. They are such wonderful creatures and natural vegetarians! (Although I was surprised to find some bunny food with beef fat in it!  :o )

It breaks my heart how casual people are to the animals they take into their lives -- like it has no impact at all if they should change their minds. We make it so easy for them to relinquish their animals, but I guess, if we didn't, the animal's end would be worse, more  horrific.

Grrrr.....
