Wanted to show you my new rescue pup

So Keegan is 5 years old and has spent most of his little life as a breeder in a puppy mill. He was rescued and fostered for six months by a wonderful rescue in Michigan, and we went through a very delicate process and background check to receive him (which is how it should be!).

He's afraid of men, but curious about one of the ones living in my house. It makes me sad that anyone could be rough or hurt a dog---let alone one as fragile as he is at only 8 lbs. If you saw the Oprah episode, it gives an idea of how devastating the conditions can be, but I am happy she's giving a wake up call to many of those wooed by their children wanting 'a puppy'.

Many of the dogs by the rescue we picked him up at were elderly, sickly, lost an eye, were abused and she gives them each more love than my entire family combined could give even if we tried. I just don't understand why people treat animals like they aren't living things that need love and nurturing to flourish. :(

He's not wearing a diaper, just a belly-band in case he wanted to mark things upon arrival. (he came from a house with 37 other dogs :)!! )

Here he is:

:)>>> I love him. I'm desperately needing an animal in my life, but we cannot have animals in our apt.  :'(

It's a shame :(

We had 5 rescues in the past 11 years, two passed, so now we have 4 all together with him. They are little bundles of joy!

same here. I miss having animals around. it would make my life complete, but our lease says explicitly: "NO PETS ALLOWED."

keegan is a sweetheart.

Yeah, ours has all kinds of NO PETS, WILL BE EVICTED..yada yada, BUT I have seen several dogs around..and it really gets to me. I know that maybe just b/c it's not completely enforced, doesn't mean it's right to do..but it's so hard! Even if these dogs were just visiting tenants (or something)...basically everything about no pets is covered in the lease...there aren't even supposed to be dogs on the property (grass), so I don't get it... >:(

Oh Bean! He is so precious! I'm so happy there are places like wher you got him from--they are true hero's of the animal world--I hope Oprah's show reached a lot of people too!

Have fun with your new pup--oh so cute!!!

What a sweet little dog! You did a great thing!  Brussels Griffon or red Affenpinscher?  I am thinking Brussels Griffon.

I had a little black Affen for 18 years.  Willie was the sweetest little dog.

Hope you have many happy years with your new furry friend!

Aw, he's SO cute! I just want to give him some lovies!! :)>>>

I don't know how anyone could hurt an animal either. It saddens me deeply!

We've gotten many of our babies from rescues too. Our last baby came from the Katrina disaster. She's a beautiful calico kitty and we named her Belle.

Owwww, I want to snuggle him so bad! All rescued pets are beautiful...nearly as beautiful as the humans who rescue them.

Well done our Bean! :)>>>
